A bizarre story to say the least. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more to it than the Daily Mail is letting on. The Daily Mail has become the newspaper version of ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not’. As you turn each page, a headline thunders about some abnormal arrest or bizarre bit of government legislation or excessive health and safety legislation. It then argues that all of these are evidence of a terible crisis in the core of British society. In fact, they are just random annecdotes that make it into the Mail for the very reason that they are abnormal.

The Home Office said that five detainees had been charged and remanded in custody in connection with the riot.

An anonymous UK government source was quoted as saying: "Tough measures are required when dealing with tough guys". Therefore, these five detainees have been told that they will only get Burger King meals if they fail to behave themselves.
