[Bennie] Thompson caves, terror tipsters win (Imams: Don’t ask, don’t tell, or we’ll sue)
Washington Times ^ | 7/27/07 | House Editorial

This week's "John Doe" episode in the House's "9/11 bill" conference negotiations ended well, thanks to a drumbeat of pro-tipster sentiment and an eleventh-hour cave-in by House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie Thompson, Mississippi Democrat.

==========================================================

Imams: Don’t ask, don’t tell, or we’ll sue

After a jillion White Flag votes on Iraq, non-binding resolutions on Iraq, slumber parties on Iraq and several hundred "investigations" on Iraq, Congress’s approval rating is now about 14%, so Democrats are scrambling to see if they can push that number into single digits -- and they thought they’d hit on an idea!

Despite working their little hearts out, the poor dears haven’t been able to hand Iraq to al-Qaeda, so, to placate their nut base, Democrats were blocking final passage of the so-called "John Doe" provision, which protects tipsters from being sued for providing tips on suspicious activity -- such as airline passengers shouting "Allah, Allah, Allah!", leaving their assigned seats, asking for seat belt extenders, etc. (Other suspicious or odd behavior would include a liberal actually praying.)

Last November, a group of Muslim imams were removed from a US Airways flight after passengers complained that the group kept shouting "Allah, Allah, Allah!", leaving their assigned seats, asking for seat belt extenders, etc. Witnesses said the imams also kept shouting "Saddam is great!", which means they could run as serious candidates for the Democrat nomination.

In March, a lawyer representing the six imams filed a lawsuit demanding "damages" from the airline, the Metropolitan Airports Commission and the evil-doing passengers (called "John Does" in the lawsuit) who reported these nuts to authorities. The lawsuit alleges racial profiling and religious discrimination, since leaving your assigned seat, asking for seat belt extenders then dropping them at your feet is apparently mandated by the Koran.

The imams claim they were only praying. Witnesses said the imams were invoking the name Osama bin Laden and condemning America for invading Iraq and killing Saddam -- so it’s hard to say what they were doing: Imitating terrorists or Howard Dean.

By sheer coincidence, the imams had been attending an Islamic conference in Minneapolis organized by NAIF (the North American Imams Federation), whose executive committee head honcho happens to be a fellow named Omar Shahin, who happens to be one of the six imams and the same lawyer chap who filed a "racial profiling" suit on behalf of two Muslims against America West, which now happens to be part of US Airways. The two Muslims, Muhammed al-Qudhaieen and Hamdan al-Shalawi, claim they were targets of ‘racial discrimination’ because they were prevented from opening the cockpit -- as if Muslims would imperil anyone on a plane.

But -- also by total coincidence, Democrat Rep. Keith Ellison, another nut who thinks Bush is Hitler and the "World Trade Center" means "Reichstag building", was attending the same conference where he gave a speech on "Imams and Politics." Ellison also gave the 'keynote address' a day earlier at a fundraiser in Washington for Hamas’s lobbying arm, CAIR, which happens to be a sister group to NAIF, the Minneapolis imam Woodstock organizer -- another coincidence! All of these coincidences were happening right around the time Congress was planning legislation against the vile practice of "profiling" to keep airline passengers safe. You would think the whole US Airways thing was an imamic stunt cooked up to get the legislation passed -- but that can’t be because Muslims would never lie. Right, libbies?

So, until Tuesday night, Democrats were blocking the "John Doe" provision. Democrats love defending rapists, murderers, drug-dealers, pedophiles, terrorists and traitors in court, so it’s a big surprise they’re against the John Doe provision. Their plan to keep America safe consists of taking Scooter Libby off the streets. You sleep better knowing the streets are free from "perjurers"!

Without John Doe, Americas would've gotten a wonderful twofer -- more exposure to terrorism and lawsuits. If you’re a flying imam, scare enough passengers with lawsuits and you won’t have to deal with messy uprisings -- Flight 93.

Liberals insist we shouldn’t see anything suspicious about a group of Muslims screaming "Allah!" and turning a plane cabin into a Mosque, but let someone say a prayer or invocation before a high school game and liberals get hysterical.

Al-Qaeda itself says it’s waging war based on religion and race, so we need to stop and question menacing old ladies in wheelchairs to avoid hurting the feelings of terrorists of color.

There was so little logic in what Democrats were doing (blocking John Doe), their base wants more. Whether it’s slumber parties to 'end' the Iraq war, or calls to end the Patriot Act, or calls for closing Guantanamo, or calls for censuring Bush, or calls for impeaching Bush, or impeaching Cheney, or impeaching Bush and Cheney, you’ve got a party heading for a reprise of ‘68, with rival factions rumbling on to defeat in the fall. A good chunk of the Democrat base thinks Bush pulled off 9/11 (I think it had to be the Queen of England, the Illuminati and Paris Hilton), thinks Bush should be impeached, or Cheney should be impeached first, then Bush, or Bush and Cheney at the same time, and wants America to surrender in Iraq right away — none of which is gonna happen. But a party that’s embraced madness like this isn’t likely to be placated with slumber party 'marathon Senate debates' on Iraq, with Democrats rolling out the cots and Sen. Byrd bringing the sheets. Cindy Sheehan -- arrested Monday along with 45 others at the Capitol for invading John Conyers’s office (without a plan!) -- is the real face of the Democrat base. That tells you all you need to know about that party and why its nominee will be giving a concession speech 16 months from now.

Anyway, that’s...
My Two Cents...

DC is full of traitors and cowards. All in all it’s a black day in American history . . . Time to clean out the Congress and start over with about three exceptions.

Would the three be Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and John Murtha?

It will be treated just like the Fairness Doctrine amendment that the GOP is “trying” to get passed.

Well then we will stillhave them by the testicles. won’t we? Unless our leaders are incompetent and do’t know how to play this.

WOW...we are in trouble if people cannot report suspicious behavior of others.

This is crazy...are we to call 9/11 BEFORE or AFTER our plane is flown into building.

:(

Even the Democrats could not be so stupid as to oppose this piece of
great common sense. Could they?

Only if they abandon their "ACT SANE until we get a Demo into
The White House"...
But in their non-judgemental, can't-we-all-get-along-even-with-Islam
hearts, they'd much rather vote against the amendment.

Well I’m not holding my breath. I am starting to lose confidence in the GOP powers that be.
