Who’s Best on National Security: 28% Say Clinton, 20% Giuliani

When asked to choose among the leading Presidential candidates, 28% of American adults said that they would trust New York Senator Hillary Clinton the most on national security issues. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% named former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
The survey also found that 15% named Illinois Senator Barack Obama and 11% picked former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson. Failing to reach double digits on this question were Arizona Senator John McCain at 7%, former North Carolina Senator John Edwards at 6%, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 2%.
Clinton is the clear frontrunner among Democrats seeking the Party nomination. Giuliani and Thompson top the GOP field.
Results had a strong partisan flavor to them—46% of Democrats named Clinton as the candidate they trust most on national security issues. Nineteen percent (19%) named Obama and 10% of Democrats prefer Edwards.
On the Republican side, 36% named Giuliani as their top pick, 26% named Thompson, 10% prefer McCain and 5% named Romney.
As for those not affiliated with either major party, 27% named Clinton, 19% picked Giuliani, and 15% prefer Obama. No other candidate reached double digits among the unaffiliateds.
Overall, 49% named a Democratic candidate while 40% picked a Republican. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 46% named a Democratic candidate while 35% named a Republican.
Historically, national security has been an issue dominated by Republicans. Over the last year or two, especially since the Dubai Ports incident, the GOP has lost that advantage. Recent tracking polls have shown the two parties close to parity on this issue while the public generally prefers Democrats on a whole range of issues.
Other data shows that the public is divided as to whether the next President should meet with the leaders of nations such as Syria, North Korea, and Iran.

The other side is also true - the number of negative hits will determine the publics view - as seen in the constant barrage of negative stories on the President since early ‘99.
These form a positive or negative mentality, hence the polls.

Keep in mind these are the same people who believe our policy in the Middle East is to blame for the hatred.
The history has been effectively distorted for the last 30 years. They don’t have the ability to see the US as a victim. Therefore we are the aggressor and Hillary promises to change that, which makes us more secure...see?

Meet the reality of the real world and the MSM influence on it. If case anyone hasn’t figured it out yet, the average American is kinda’ out of touch and his/her thoughts and outlook very easily massaged by the media. And far too many are looking for someone to tell them the problems in life are not their fault, it resides with the establishment. The media thrives on it.

Nothing. The sad truth is these folks polled a) dangerously uninformed voters, or b) socialist shill voters who do not care about national security. Those are the only 2 things that make any sense. It is clear, crystal clear, who is best on National Security.
I really can not believe this poll. It has to be deeply and fatally flawed.

International Security Advisory Board (ISAB)
The Secretary of State's International Security Advisory Board (formerly called the Arms Control and Nonproliferation Advisory Board (ACNAB)) provides the Department with independent insight and advice on all aspects of arms control, disarmament, international security, and related aspects of public diplomacy. The ISAB is sponsored and overseen by the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security. The Board provides its recommendations directly to the Secretary of State. The Board currently has 20 members and is chartered to have up to 25. Board members are national security experts with scientific, military, diplomatic, and political backgrounds. The Board meets in a plenary session on a quarterly basis.
