The Flat Tax also retains the oppressive IRS and its 67,000+ page tax code. The Fair Tax will also eliminate loopholes and abolish the IRS.

Flat income tax does not capture tax revenues from those who do not report income or produces. Not everyone produces, yet everyone consumes. Fair Tax is a consumption tax, capturing EVERYONE into the tax code.

Anyone who supports yet another income tax just hasn't wrapped their mind around the sheer government intrusiveness of an income tax. As long as we have ANY income tax we are in danger of returning to just where we are now, or worse.

We need to end the governments fasination with what we earn, they have no business knowing what we make, or telling us how much money we can carry around with us, or making us pay a fee on what we earn. We need to repeal the income tax amendment(#16)and initiate tariffs or the fair tax or it's equivalent, it is the only viable solution. Flat tax is simply another income tax with all it's inherent supressions and sapping of freedom.

The fair tax is the only way to restore freedom and privacy. Otherwise the Gestapo is still involved.

JaneNC,

The Flat Tax is still an ‘Income’ tax.

Do you know what is wrong with an ‘Income’ tax in any form?

It is its definition.

Is ‘Income’ the same as ‘Revenue’?

You would not believe what people thought 100 hundred years ago or even 80 years ago when it came to discussing an Income tax. Most people did not care because they never saw it. It applied only to the top .5% of the American population.

It has since spread to the middle class and the way it spread was a slow, clever and deceitful manipulation of the word ‘income’.

This is why billionaire Warren Buffett pays a 17% tax rate and his secretary pays a 25% rate. He admitted to that. You see, Buffett is able to get loopholes by having Congress define ‘income’ to be gains, exempt revenues or deductible or equivalently get Congress to define revenue as non-taxable income and so forth.

This is the root of the who problem. ‘Income’ can be anything the IRS decides it will be or not be. That is why good people learn the IRS is a KGB like organization in America. Good people that always paid their taxes suddenly get an audit notice and are told they owe thousands in taxes and thousands more in penalties and interest because they did not fill their taxes out correctly because they did not understand ‘income’. And there is no due process in court, they must pay or else. The Constitution does not apply in Tax Court.

If you have a high speed internet connection, watch this film:

I am not saying don’t pay your taxes. Please do pay your taxes but be aware of the system we have and why we it needs to be changed. The FairTax is the only way to get us back to the Constitution.

Income tax is evil, wrong, likely unconstitutional, and must be eliminated.
How on earth can anyone justify taking money from me before I even see it?

Flat tax is 17% on income, plus 7.65% on wages, plus 7.65 of wages from ER. That is, it doesn't eliminate payroll taxes.

Just as bad, it has business taxes - which just end up hidden in prices of goods at retail.

The flat income tax ends up being 32.1%.

We’ve already tried the Flat Tax — it started with just two tiers; back in 1913 it was 1% on the low end, and 7% on the high end. In 1917, the high end was all the way up to 77%. In 1986, we had “simplification” and went back to the two tier flat tax system.

The current Flat Tax proposal temporarily simplifies, just like in 1986, but it CHANGES nothing: the IRS, the tax codes (current and the flat tax), corporate taxation and embedded cascading taxes all stay in place, and we still will have NO CHOICE.

The Fair Tax actually CHANGES all these things.
