Abortion Clinic Sneaks into Chicagoland

A $7.5 million Planned Parenthood abortion clinic that will open in September in Aurora, Ill., is taking the Chicago area by surprise, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Neighbors thought they were seeing the completion of the "Gemini Health Center," just as the sign says. So did the painters, carpenters, electricians and other tradesmen who have been working on the project for the last eight months.

Just last week, Aurora Councilman Chris Beykirch learned that Planned Parenthood was moving in.

"Frankly, I'm surprised we were able to keep it a secret for so long," Steve Trombley, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area, told the Tribune. "We didn't want anything to interfere with the opening … and, at this point, I don't anticipate anything will stop that from happening."

Ann Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, said it's not possible to stop construction. "It's probably more a matter of damage control at this point," she said. Her group will begin picketing the site Aug. 22.

"Planned Parenthood's legacy of deception continues as they move forward with opening a new clinic under the auspices of 'health center,'" said Dawn Vargo, associate bioethics analyst for Focus on the Family Action. "The fact that Planned Parenthood officials felt the need to keep the purpose of the center a secret from the builders, residents and the city demonstrates that they suspect their anti-life agenda is very unwelcome."

When I was living in Chicago back in the late 1990s, Aurora was about 40% Hispanic (mixed Mexican and Puerto Rican).

Methinks the reason so many abortion mills are in "ethnic" neighborhoods is not simply because land is cheaper...

We didn't want anything to interfere with the opening

So where is the Illinois Right To Life? What is the date of the opening? Right to Life, BOUND4LIFE, OPERATION RESCUE and the rest should show up to help them with their opening.

The Germans has similar “health clinics” named Auschwitz, Treblinka, Ravensbruck and Sobibor. They also tried to keep them secret.

They have to sneak in, like thieves in the night. Despicable anti-life people. Coming to steal the lives of Chicago’s children.

But I’m not surprised they were able to pull off this deception. They have a very powerful woman leading them...Mrs. Michelle Obama...the black Margaret Sanger.

Calling an abortion clinic a women’s health center is like calling a concentration camp a synagogue.

Planned Parenthood had to "sneak in" in because there are men who would fire bomb the clinic before, during, and after construction, with or without workers inside. There was an interesting article on the Aurora clinic, and the problems PP has faced with previous building projects, including blackmailing of their contractors. Abortion makes up about 3 percent of the patient services provided by PP in any given year. Even the most vehmenent anti-abortion groups figures confirm that less than 10% of women who visit a PP clinic have abortions, instead going for other reproductive health services.

Anything listed as a "health center" or "abortion information" raises red flags for many women, but for a totally different reason than yours.

There will be plenty of good Polish-American Catholics in Chicagoland who will make their views on this well-known, I’m sure.

Just how many clinics have been 'fire-bombed' in the US in the last 30 years? I can remember only two that made the national news that were perpetrated by supposed pro-lifers. It was found that in the late 80's and through the 90's, many of the instances of arson of abortion clinics were found to be set to as to defraud the insurance companies because the abortion clinic was beginning to lose money. There have been some shootings, but none that I know of in the last 10 years, probably because there have been more instances of restrictions not being struck down by the courts. As with the two clinic bombings that I can remember, the shootings were done by religious kooks; at least two in Pensacola FL, one here in MA, and one in PA.

It's my experience that abortions are not done every day at these clinics. They're usually done all on one day because they're having difficulty finding doctors who are willing to do them. And THAT has little to do with threats; younger doctors don't want to be involved in it because they don't like it. Pro-life folks usually gather on that one day to do their clinic stand ins, but sometimes there is one person outside each day praying the Rosary for those inside.
