COMBAT OUTPOST CLEARY, Iraq - It has been said that an Army runs on its stomach, and most Soldiers would agree.
Soldiers from the 15th Infantry Regiment's 1st Battalion here rely on a five-member team to supply them with the culinary fuel they need to carry out their missions.
A typical day for the Soldier chefs starts at 4 a.m.

This is just a short, but important break in the mission action.

Here’s an often overlooked, but vital, support mission for our troops in Iraq.

It's impressive how much they can do in difficult conditions. But I have a question about this:
Ice cream, for example, is one of Soldiers' biggest requests when the temperatures reach 120 degrees. "But it would have to be transported on dry ice or in freezers. We just don't have those capabilities," he said.
What about making ice cream on site? If they have electricity and refrigeration and some large-sized home ice cream makers, they could make ice cream for the troops.
We pray for the safety of our troops, and for the success of their mission.

The menu if different, but I swear the photo shows the very same spoon that was used to dobb SOS on a piece of burnt toast in my day (years ago).

Could well be,... you know the military never throws things away; well maybe all those Field Rations that had Cigarette Packs in them when Califano was Secretary of Health.
