Jump in storms? What jump? It seems to me that all that happened was that all the storms from 2006 got moved up to 2005, that’s all.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The number of tropical storms developing annually in the Atlantic Ocean more than doubled over the past century, with the increase taking place in two jumps, researchers say.
The increases coincided with rising sea surface temperature, largely the byproduct of human-induced climate warming, researchers Greg J. Holland and Peter J. Webster concluded. Their findings were being published online Sunday by Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London.
An official at the National Hurricane Center called the research “sloppy science” and said technological improvements in observing storms accounted for the increase.

I saw it a few hours ago. The Simpsons movie was funny but not that funny. A few needlessly crude scenes were uncomfortable for a dad with his 10 year old girl Simpsons fan.

I just would hate to be Lindsay right now. Her personal life is going down into the gutter and now her once-promising acting career is going down the toilet too.
As for her movies, she’s never been a #1 box-office draw (although her Disney DVD sales usually ranked near the top). Her films usually rank around 4-5, but 9th is brutal.
And I see the review of the film indicates it to be the worst of the year. Which brings up the drama: Will Lindsay, to add insult to injury, “win” a Razzie??

I took ,y 6 -year-old son to the Simpsons movie... saw his teacher there too, with her 3 kids... I guess that, as parents, my husband and I don’t shield our son from the realities of the world and explain to him good from bad... some of the Simpsons scenes were violent (like the beginning with Itchy & Scrathcy), but that’s when, as a Mom, I sit down and explain to him what’s true and what’s not... hopefully, when he becomes a teenager, he’ll be able to deal with issues better than my nephews (who are 10 and 11 and still watch “G” movies because my sister is such a paranoid).
I guess I’m more of a realist.

I stopped caring about Britney Spears many years ago. Up until recently she was pretty much normal, and yet the tabloids still covered her life 24/7. It bored me.
I wonder if Matt Drudge will ever retire. If he did, how would he spend the days? Take up golf?

I don’t think that Matt could live a retired or semi-retired life. He’ll always have that curiosity about issues and things that happen all over the world and the need to report on them.
