Are the Media Misreporting Thompson Addition of Spencer Abraham to Campaign?
Newsbusters ^ | July 30, 2007 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 07/30/2007 1:18:18 PM PDT by Clara Lou

A lot of people are atwitter over this addition to the Thompson advisory team of former Senator Spencer Abraham. But, it is starting to look to me like a story incorrectly reported by the MSM and rolling off track from there. It just seems that there are too many conflicting reports on Abraham's role with the AP reporting that he is a new "campaign manager" but others saying Randy Enwright is.

The website IsraelToday, for instance, has posted a story full of alarm over the addition of Spence to the team. Their reaction is similar to many Israel supporters here in the states, too. "Fred Thompson names anti-Israel ex-senator as campaign manager" their headline screams. They are very worried over Spence's past slights to Israel and for being "soft on Islamic terrorism."

Good information. It doesn’t matter, though. After all, the Rudy Romneyites and the desperate 1%er supporters need to take Thompson down—and if they have to use lies and smears, so be it, as far as they’re concerned.

This is being rehashed on several posts today. I pray this “news” report is either a lie, or that if Abraham was indeed named as “Chairman”—or even mailroom supervisor—that Fred reverse course and can this fat Arab piece of shiite.

Sure is...plenty of knee-jerkers (here)...mostly those whom want to hate on him at any cost.

I like your profile....the idea of saving all the knee-jerk and anti-fred quotes. So when they get proven to be nothing, the people just look like...well, you know.

Spencer Abraham was also the number one target of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, People for the American Worker, NumbersUSA, and all the other anti-amnesty groups, back in 2000.

"I trust that Fred knows what he is doing and knows who to hire for his campaign, and I am tired of the "OMG, look what Fred's done now! I like FRed, but I can't support him after this" folks.

I support Fred. Once he enters the campaign, and HE'S GOT PLENTY OF TIME TO GET IN, we'll see if others will."

------------------------------------------------------

By the way...where are all the Anti-Frederalists? They don't like threads that distort their 'inconvient untruths'!?

Based on it’s what I would probably do.

If I got the reaction from the grassroots that hiring Abraham did...

Fred has a ways to go..one mistake is not a killer for him.

I like the persona of FT. He appears to be an afable fellow. He’s got some splaining to do on some of his past policies but he is more believable then Rudy in that regard and if he stays healthy he is probably the odds on favorite in the primaries.. He’s just not my first choice. The GOP has given us some tough choices. My first choice is to see my candidate gain more traction. My second choice is anybody but Rudy.

and all the other anti-amnesty groups, back in 2000.

Correction, all of these groups are anti all immigration, they just have been vocal about amnesty now because it serves their interest today... At least one of these organizations (NumbersUSA) is actually affiliated with leftist environmentalist organizations that promote zero population growth to 'save the world'..

BTW my #10 is not meant as a bash on Fred.

Backpedaling from Spencer Abraham would be smart.

The political landscape is full of mines these days...

We’ll not get “perfect” from anyone.

I reserve the main of my “bashing” for Rudy.

Thanks for the clarification—I needed it.

At this point in time, I’m not going to allow the Spencer Abraham issue to be a big deal. Things will clear up somewhat when Thompson announces in Sept. [That’s my guess—won’t be August.] I’ll wait to see how things develop.

September is my guess as well. Until then, I’m not going to have a stroke over anything.

I can’t support him if Jihad Spencer is involved in any capacity. The guy is a terrorist sympathizer and traitor.

>> Correction, all of these groups are anti all immigration, they just have been vocal about amnesty now because it serves their interest today... <<

They have, in the recent past, called for a moratorium on discretionary immigration. But even such moratoria do not typically include many forms of immigration.

>> At least one of these organizations (NumbersUSA) is actually affiliated with leftist environmentalist organizations that promote zero population growth to ‘save the world’.. <<

So sharing one board member (out of many) makes anything they say inherently wrong. You learned your politics at the knee of Uncle Joe Stalin, didn’t you?

So your saying Abraham is NOT a terrorist supporting piece of trash?

Actually, it isn’t sharing one board member, it is sharing the head of the organization and writing policy and position papers on behalf of the organization, yes, that does make one question the motives of things they say.

Just because the guy in the van offers you candy doesn’t mean his intentions are good.
