I’m soliciting prayers from everyone, everywhere!

A very very dear friend of mine has had a recurrence of bone marrow cancer. She fought it successfully once. Bone marrow cancer is never cured. It only goes into remission for however long it does for each person. When it resurfaces, it’s usually more aggressive than the time before, as is the case with my friend.

I’d like you to know some stuff about this very special lady. When I was 15, she took me “under her wing”, let me hang on her apron strings, or in this case....her Rosary beads. My parents were rarely available for much, but they DID make sure I went to an awesome school. Sister Pat was my biology teacher. I SO needed guidance, and I was drawn to something very special I couldn’t quite understand (yet) in her.

I told her my story, and she “adopted” me. Honestly, I don’t know what would have happened to me without her guidance and love. She loved me no matter how badly I screwed up (I was far from perfect). She never gave up on me. She always encouraged me to let my best shine through.

This lady has devoted her life to God and to helping people. As a teacher, she was dynamite! As a friend, she was a life saver. I love this lady very much.

She’s been a nun for almost 50 years, and her joy of life and love of God is positively infectious. She traveled from St. Louis to Steilacoom, Washington for my wedding. She said there was no way she would miss it!

I send her flowers every year on Mother’s day. She gets such a kick out of it when there’s a new sister in the convent..... curious about the flowers. She says: “Oh, these are from my “kid” for Mother’s day”. She’s gotten various reactions, and she has some fun with it. Some of the nuns in her convent know very well who the flowers are from and WHY she gets them, as these ladies have also known me since I was a teenager.

Sister Pat is very grateful for her 18 months of remission. She’s ready to fight again, but she’s also ready if God decides He wants her home. She’s 67 years young.

Please pray for this wonderful lady. Prayer is powerful! (She helped me grasp that fact, too)

Lori
