Don't look for Arianna Huffington to be sitting down to a chummy luncheon with Hillary Clinton anytime soon. Huffington has been no fan of Clinton for some time, considering her insufficiently, and inauthentically, anti-war. But on today's "Morning Joe," Huffington took her animus to another level, accusing Hillary of an ultimate Dem sin: "swiftboating" an opponent, namely Barack Obama.
HUFFINGTON POST FOUNDER ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: After the CNN debate, I think it was ridiculous the way she and her campaign attacked Obama for saying he would engage in diplomatic talks with dictators. That is sort of a classic example of swiftboating your opponent. Like the equivalent of what Republicans do anytime Democrats call for troop withdrawal and they are talking about "cutting and running" or "precipitous withdrawal" or any of the clever little phrases.View video here.
HUFFINGTON, disdainfully: This is really pathetic. This is just preparation for General Petraeus' visit to the Hill. How would Huffington seek to dismiss the conclusions of the New York Times' respected Baghdad bureau chief John Burns? He recently told Hugh Hewitt in an extended interview that "there's no doubt that those extra 30,000 American troops are making a difference."
SCARBOROUGH: You know Arianna, there have been pathetic defenses of this war from time to time. But these two gentlemen are from the Brookings [Institution], an organization that nobody has ever accused of being packed with neo-cons, and these two gentlemen have been harshly critical of the Bush administration from time to time throughout the war.
HUFFINGTON, sputtering: Yes, but this is one set of opinions, and needs to be put against the, um, sort of majority of opinion from experts on the ground.
huh?......
DEFINITION: Swiftboating - Exposing a fraud; earliest documented example being the little boy who pointed out that the emperor wasn’t wearing any clothes...
Huffington doesn’t ‘heart’ Hillary. Ping to Today show list.
Apologies to anyone pinged who has asked to be removed, or those who recently asked to be added to list. My laptop with the current list is in the shop and I’m using a somewhat out-of-date list this morning.
Huffington is clueless as to the definition of the term “swiftboating”. I can’t believe people follow this airhead
Swiftboating: Speaking the truth about one's opponent. Stating what that opponent said or did. Leaving the opponent to respond with "I'm being swiftboated," as opposed to refuting the statement.
Mark
The Dem definition of swiftboating seems to be to disagree with a Dem.
Why the h*ll does this loon (rymes with itch) get on any tv show? No wonder her ex- wound up in Fairyville. I’d be tempted to go there, too, if I had to be around her much. (Well, let’s make that Jacksonville or Louisville instead.)
Based on Huffington’s use of the phrase, it would now appear that Democrats consider any criticism they dislike to be “swiftboating”
I’m proud to be a swiftboat contributor and proud that I helped add this word to the vocabulary.
It’s funny that the left use the word as a smear. The word lives on!
Good question. Remember, she started as a conservative pundit but found out there was more money on the other side - so she became a life long liberal.
Swiftboating is speaking the TRUTH of someone. Borking is an ad hominen attack on a person, like Hill unleashed on Obama (if you're an Obamaite that is).
My thoughts, too. This lady seems to lack any understanding of the term, but then she IS a foreigner and she does speak poor English. She just picks up a word or phrase here and there and misuses it at will. She must really need attention, appearing with that turd merchant Joe Scarborough.
Total BS. By the time Mrs. Bill Clinton gets the nomination, Huffington will be campaigning for her to the hilt.
Please note that I did qualify that by noting “anytime soon.” I also reported Huff’s statement that she would vote for Hillary against any Republican.
That’s nothing. We are going to “Truth Boat” Hillary Clinton.

DEFINITION: Swiftboating - whatever the Dems and libs want it to mean. Same thing for neo-con.
Not sure how's that's possible from Hilly since "Swiftboating" requires telling the truth about the other candidate. Guess she didn't have any other choice
