Barack Oprahbama has gone on the rhetorical offensive against Caligula Rodham Clinton. She couldnt be happier to watch him attack and die. Like the French assault into Germany at the beginning of World War I, his credibility on foreign policy will lay dead, face-down in the muddy trenches. He just totally blew a brilliant opportunity to shut up.
After the most recent Democratic debate, where The Big O fumbled a question about meeting with psychopathic foreign leaders, Caligula all but handed him a towel and told him to dry behind the ears. While he could be forgiven if it takes him a while to dry behind ears that large, Oprahbama reacted to Hillarys charges of naiveté by stating that he might invade Pakistan, if he felt Pervez Musharraf wasnt doing a good enough job of hunting down the Taliban in Waristan.
"Let me make this clear," Obama said in a speech prepared for delivery at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. "There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an Al-Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."
After offering to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Marquis De Sades Evil Ghost without precondition, Barack is now issuing invasion threats against one of the few countries in the region that still cooperates with the United States at all. Foreign leaders could be forgiven for wondering why they should cooperate with an American President who will punish them for not cooperating rapidly enough. Particularly, when they could just threaten to wipe Israel off the map and have President Oprahbama over within a year for the obligatory grip and grin.
Having stated his willingness to send the storm troopers into The Himalayas; Barack than addressed his distress over the continuing war in Iraq. He thereby performed a volte-face that made Sybil look like she was playing cards with a full deck.
"He confuses our mission," Obama said, then he spread responsibility to lawmakers like Clinton who voted for the invasion. "By refusing to end the war in Iraq, President Bush is giving the terrorists what they really want, and what the Congress voted to give them in 2002: a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences."
Obama said that as commander in chief he would remove troops from Iraq and putting them "on the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan." He said he would send at least two more brigades to Afghanistan and increase nonmilitary aid to the country by $1 billion.
In related news, Im sure Michael Belisiles will be authoring a history book featuring letters from Nathan Bedford Forrest to President Grant requesting a further continuance of Reconstruction, so that he could effectively recruit more Klansmen. He could find that letter the same place he located his firearms data; a Kinkos in Abilene, Texas. Barack leans on a tired meme when he claims Al Qaeda enjoyed seeing the United States go to Baghdad, the capital of the first great Islamic Caliphate, and set up a representative democracy.
If the United States succeeds in Iraq, Osama has as much of a shot at his new caliphate as I do of buying The Wall Street Journal instead of Rupert Murdoch. A stable Iraq that gradually grows more prosperous and that manages its violence even as well as Great Britain managed Northern Ireland, would represent a colossal defeat to Al Qaeda. The Taliban would look as logical the Iranian President who sits around waiting for The Hidden Imam to stop over for tea.
Oprahbama also seems to think he can decide unilaterally where the US Army gets to fight. A cursory study of military history demonstrates the dense and wrong-headed thinking behind this notion. General Meade didnt choose to fight Lee at Gettysburg because the bookies rated him three points higher on the home gridiron. Likewise, Al Qaeda has invaded Iraq because they see it in their strategic interest.
Invading Iraq would still be in Al Qaedas best interests even if the US Army could enact the Dennis Kucinich 90 day retreat. Al Qaeda would appreciate us leaving. They could then use Iraq as a base of operations, without any meaningful external interference. A withdrawal from Iraq would not extricate the United States from The Global War on Terror any more than the withdrawal at Dunkirk ended World War II for Great Britain.
Pacifism and appeasement make war more like hell, not less. Disingenuous rhetoric about foreign policy does not confuse our enemies, it emboldens them. Risible campaign promises dont improve the moral of our allies; it makes them question our sanity. I liked Barack Oprahbama in his naive incarnation much better. At lest then, I could convince myself that the man had potential.
...like Michael Moore on a honey glazed ham.
Like an aging movie starlet on a naive pool boy.

...like a Chuck Shumer on a cameraman
...like Barney Frank on a boy scout!
...like John Murtha after a loose dollar bill...
"Caligullary" maybe?
He already make the speech.
Or maybe: Like Murtha on a Marine that fired his gun at the enemy!
The guy is even more stupid than I thought, the DUmmies and the Kossacks must be furious with him if he actually suggested invading a foreign country that has done nothing to us.
Deep down he’s very shallow (with a nod to Dorothy Parker).
Like Ms. Lindsey Graham on a pair of light loafers.
