Senators Planning Ways to Oust Gonzales (Nothing on perjury)

WASHINGTON — Senators in both parties concede they don't have enough evidence make a perjury charge stick against Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. But that doesn't mean they're going to quit trying to pry him from office.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., is considering asking the Justice Department's inspector general to examine whether Gonzales' answers to questions from lawmakers amount to misconduct.

"I am deeply concerned about the seriousness of his misleading testimony and the pattern that has developed with regards to the attorney general's testimony over the years," Leahy said Thursday. "At the very least, I am considering sending his answers as they stand to the inspector general for review."

Ranking committee Republican Arlen Specter doesn't sound like he'd stand in the way.

"I think we need to finish this (the committee's) investigation and find a way to end the tenure of Attorney General Gonzales," Pennsylvania Sen. Specter said Thursday at a hearing.

In the House, a group of Democrats have introduced a resolution directing the Judiciary Committee there to impeach Gonzales. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, who has called for a new attorney general, said the measure had merit but was not atop her list of priorities.

Hey Pat! Think congress can take up some of the Country's business like tax reform and give up the partisan witch hunts?

Huh? Ya think??

Actually, I don't want this Congress anywhere near tax reform. As far as I'm concerned, the LEAST amount of damage the Democrats can do is keep up the witch hunts.

There’s a little secret to the Democrat’s madness that they don’t want exposed. If President Bush vetoes the defense appropriations bill and they don’t have enough to override the veto it will be the AG that declares it financially insolvent then list it as an essential government function at which time President Bush can get the money from the treasury for all military and current military operations without congress standing in the way.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Gonzales replaced but not on the Rats or RINO’s terms.

I’m with you. The more time they waste on this drivel, the more they disappoint their supporters by promising much and accomplishing nothing.

I’m not sure what kind of game Specter is playing. I’ve come to think that he seldom says what he really thinks or intends to do. Possibly he’s just stringing them along.

AG AG can go, but he should take Pat, Teddy, Jean, Specter, Levin and a few others with him

Specter would switch to Democrat if it looks like he would lose as a Republican so right now he’s playing both ends against the middle seeing where his best chances are.

Good! You would think that they might want to see that the infrastructure in America is functional. Our interstates and bridges are in a sorry state.

Friggin Arlen Specter is a miserable excuse for a human being. A pompous, arrogant, narcissist who insists on damaging the presidency while asserting his authority over matters the constitution does not recognize as within his purview. Helping Democrats attack Republicans and assisting in their efforts to undermine presidential power while creating an imperial congress seems to be his only goal

His recent comments on Roberts and Alito possibly “lying” to him and their alleged assault on “stare decisis” were absolutely outrageous and an affront to the founders ideal of “separation of powers”.

He needs to be removed by any means necessary. he is a danger to the republic. PF

"Allright, boys and girls, let's recite the Creed..."

"It's Not The Facts Of The Case, It's The Seriousness Of The Charge That Compels Us To Investigate!"

"Very good, boys and girls! Now, let's open our Little Red Books to Chapter Two..."

Poor Dems

They have been giving themselves so many birthday parties, Christmas parties, Easter baskets, and Valentine gifts.

And when they have them all unwrapped all they have to show for it is a little used Scooter.

But hey! With all the horse$hit they are throwing around, there has to be a pony in there somewhere.

One way to look at this is this will keep all those commies busy for awhile, absorbing at least a portion of their time, time that would otherwise be spent thinking up schemes to deprive us of rights, liberty and property.

What is it with them wanting to get rid of him so badly? I can see how the right thinks he a liability (he’s kind of weak) but what is the left’s deal? It’s like they are fixated on it.

Democrat Senators Spector and Leahy are on a crusade to oust the AG and to harass the Bush administration at any cost. The attack-Bush campaign has been in high gear since the Democrats claimed Congress. The personal attacks will be continuous and relentless until Bush is out of office. It is all a part of the We Hate Bush industry that has been shoveling manure for the last few years. They are just playing to the adolescent base.

The time is approaching for a massive counter attack . The current harassment may infact be preemptive hope to dissuede Gonzales from going after Senate staff criminals and probably the Senators themselves.

But the number of Republican critters under investigation outnumber the Dems.

Then there is Diane Feinstein. Not a peep!
