Jack Cafferty was just on CNN with Wolf Blitzer and said that if we weren't spending a total of 1 Trillion dollars in Iraq we could have repaired that bridge and all of the bridges in the U.S.A. instead of building new bridges for roads in Iraq.
He laid blame on...guess who? But of course...Bush!
When all else fails...CNN and the Liberals find a way to blame Bush.
Don't the Democrats run that state for the most part?
More MIHOP DUFU fodder.
Isn’t Minnesota one of the most RAT (infested) states in the nation?
You forgot to add MAJOR UBER DUPER BARF ALERT!!!!
Don’t these people have shame. Oh nevermind...........
Iraq has cost $446 billion, not $1 trillion. Costofwar.com shows the true number.
Isn’t funny after Katrina and now this, two Democrat states with two Democrat controlled cities have catastrophes and yet they can’t wait to blame someone else. Who’s responsibility was it to shore up the levees, the bridges, etc? Just the federal gov’t? Give me a break.
I’ll bet the latest transportation bill probably provides more money for highways and bridges then any in US history.
Aw geez, not this sh** again! The odious Cafferty knows perfectly well that he’s lying, but as long as the Oprah-cized couch potatoes believe it, then he’s achieved his goal. Next year, they’ll all get on their DNC-supplied buses and pull the lever for She Who Must Not Be Named.
Yes indeed. Home of Walter Mondale!
He is asking for people to write in and give their opinions on how we feel as Americans and the 1 Trillion spent on the war and how that money could have saved lives yesterday in Minn.
To be fair he was reading from a report that says by the end of the war it will be at 1 Trillion.....but we were nearing it lightning quick.
Wow that took a while! But still under 24 hours.
What did you have in the pool? I took 12 hrs. Grrrr
LOL
All that money wasted on the big dig in Boston would have repaired lots of bridges too. Blame Teddy.
Well CNN is doing hard news now...coming....people who suffer with bridge phobias...next..on the situation room.
Let’s see...the bridge was built in 1967 and was “non-redundant” so that if any part of the bridge failed, it could all go down as did the Silver Bridge in Ohio years ago. Who was president and in charge of building the interstate then? Let’s see...LBJohnson! You would think that after the Silver Bridge collapse, there would have been investigations into bridges built at that time.
Bottom line....people dropped the ball for years on this bridge...and Iraq has nothing to do with it.
Just plain stupid.
You knew this was coming.
I blame gravity...
Jack had better check with the Minn. gov. I heard him say a little while ago, that they knew that the report showed flaws in the structure, but that the decision was made that they were not serious.
Jack must be hungover.
I believe the report said if we stay in Iraq until 2012 it will end up costing 1 trillion dollars
I bet the local, county and state inspectors had no idea the POTUS was their boss
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, in a joint news conference recommended that President Bush name a blue ribbon commission to be chaired by Senator Ted Kennedy to make sure no cars ever go off of bridges into rivers again.
Mrs. Pelosi stated; "This is failure of presidential leadership. We know Senator Kennedy will get to the bottom of this."
And Pubert E. Humphrey.
Cafferty’s just jealous he wasn’t able to drive in the bicycle lane when it came down.
My tag-line says it all!!!
Sickening.
Right on. The blame resides with 40 years of road salt eating away at the steel structure, then the steel being contorted by 40 years of Minnesota winters. Oh yeah, shouldn't forget the global warming factor working in opposition with the ever colder winters - the colder winters being caused by global warming which in turn is being caused by Prez Bush of course....
I blame liberals and Democrats as they have taken more and more money every year for their socialist agenda and have denied funds for infrastructure. I remember when Reagan took office infrastructure was one of his priorities because Carter had slashed the budgets.
Nothing compares to both Massachusetts and Rhode Island when comparing the bluest of states.
Hell yeah. This happened under Keith "Raghead" Ellison's watch, you know.
In fact, any Americans that take these kooks seriously probably shouldn't be voting...
what was the excuse for not fixing BEFORE the Iraq war?
Do they teach spelling in Journalism school these days?
Just wondering, why didn't we solve all these infrastructure problems when Clinton was president?
maybe if we didn’t spend so much on social security, medicare, medicaid and food stamps you know?
Some of our locals are doing that too. Did he insinuate (or come right out and say) that Bush has “squandered” all our resources on Iraq and neglected our highways and bridges? If so, they’ve already published their talking points.
My teeth hurt. It’s Jack Cafferty’s fault.
the Clinton News Network has been doing it all day....
this morning about 8AM a CNN reporter starts with the usual defeatocrat babble...”the war in Iraq....no money for bridges...” and typical BS....
after crying about the lack of funds to repair infrastructure he then pointed out how the George Washington bridge, where he was reporting from, is able to maintain itself and keep up with needed repairs because they charge a $6.00 toll to get across the bridge...
hmmm...how about that; you use you pay....
the irony is I watched the press conference by the Minny officials...the cheif of the Minny FD said they were as well prepared as ever and handled this tragedy better than anyone he’s ever been to thanks to the equipment and training they received as part of post 9-11 training...
“”Ill bet the latest transportation bill probably provides more money for highways and bridges then any in US history.””
Hm, I wonder how many fossil fuels will be burned in the effort to upgrade our crumbling infrastructure. The reality is that conrete, steel and asphalt are critical raw materials in construction. THose materials require huge amounts of fossil fuels to produce. I think that this represents a dilemma for the Dems. They will have to agree to more greenhouse gas emissions while the infrastructure is upgraded.

And Mike Barnicle asks if the bridge collapse is “good for the Democrats”...???
Cafferty needs to be relieved of his job.
If we weren’t spending $150,000,000.00 on pork for John Murtha ....
[Iraq has cost $446 billion, not $1 trillion. Costofwar.com shows the true number.]
And the vast amount of that has been spent in THIS country.
I’ve got my beef with Bush, but this is preposterous. The bridge was inspected. It was deemed safe. Bush isn’t reponsible for that. Stick it McCafferty.
the bridge was INCORRECTLY deemed safe
I think your tagline would be more accurate if it said: Democrats hate Bush even more than they hate their country.
IF it was inspected and cleared in error, then the inspector can explain himself, not Bush. And I wouldn’t mind seeing that take place. Too many idiots do a half-ass job in critical positions then get a free pass.
Yeah, I’m sure the liberals would have just rushed out and spent all that money to repair bridges.
Sure.
hey jack, howzabowt the $11,000,0000,0000,000 spent on the wars of poverty-education-right*to*life-etc,etc?
It’s no use.
The answer to all problems, personal and political is now:
BUSH’S FAULT.
And don’t forget the retort to anything:
BUSH LIED ABOUT ______! (insert here)
in this case, “bridges!”
