Fired clerk now conservative folk hero ( Bruno Kirchenwitz ) ( Free Republic mentioned )
Aspen Daily News ^ | 08/03/2007 | Brent Gardner-Smith -

In the past, if Bruno Kirchenwitz wanted to see his name in print or vent about U.S. immigration policy, he would write letters to local newspapers about "illegal hordes" and stemming "the tide that threatens our sovereignty."

Today, the former 7-Eleven clerk who was fired from his job after a shooting at the Basalt store has become a minor celebrity in local and regional media and a full-fledged poster child on conservative Internet Web sites dedicated to immigration reform.

"I'm kind of like the kid that's gotten a thousand presents for Christmas," he said of the recent media attention. "I've been on all kinds of radio shows. And the Washington Post called for crying out loud."

He's been prominently featured on the KHOW morning show in Denver with host Peter Boyles, who has produced a parody song to the tune of "Stairway to Heaven" called "The Legend and Story of Bruno Kirchenwitz" ...

He's scheduled to be on a radio show in Atlanta on Monday night and he's been hoping to get on the air with Rush Limbaugh. And his name and story is all over Web sites like Immigration Watchdog, Americans for Legal Immigration, Free Republic, New Nation News and American Renaissance News.

Denver talk-show host Peter Boyles has spent lots of air-time on the Kirchenwitz story and has called for a boycott of 7-Eleven, which is owned by what used to be called the Southland Corporation...

Colorado Congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo called in and told Kirchenwitz, "I think, my friend, you have a terrific lawsuit here and I hope you proceed with it."

Boyles and Kirchenwitz both harshly criticized Basalt Police Chief Ikeda ...

Wow - a Free Republic mention without the ‘Right-Wing’ tag attached. Impressive.

Kirchenwitz now says that even though the men told him three times they were going to harm him when they got him alone, he simply told them in a lighthearted way, "If you like my hat, you'll love my T-shirt."

But veteran Aspen Times reporter Scott Condon quoted Kirchenwitz the day after the event as saying he told the men "Bring it on. This is ------- bullshit."

Perhaps the "veteran reporter" could tell us in an update why the "discrepancy" is relevant.

They changed it this time : five .30-caliber rifle shots ...

Last time : three 30-millimeter shell casings found at the 7-Eleven after the shooting were consistent with the type of ammunition typically used with an M-1 rifle.

They must be reading FR ?

Not only that -- it appeared in an Aspen newspaper and was authored by a Brent Gardner-Smith.

Bruno inspires song

Denver talk-show host Peter Boyles often features parodies of events in the news during his morning program on KHOW, 630 AM. One of his recent works was a well-produced music number called the “The Legend and Story of Bruno Kirchenwitz.”

It was sung to the tune of “Stairway to Heaven.”

I love his parodies. He doesn’t cut any slack when he goes after someone. He was pounding the sheriff the other day and I loved it.

Kirchenwitz passed a lie detector test that corroborated his story. Funny how Aspen Times doesn’t think that’s a relevant item to mention in this story.

Yeah, Southland used to own many/most of them, but the franchise split up and there are probably 50 different owners.

The one is Dallas is Alon USA (an Israeli company, or rather a Delaware company owned by Israeli & US citizens) and owns the FINA refinery in Big Spring, Texas and the 7-Elevens in West Texas and most of New Mexico.

(I used to be one of the 3 owners of Alon, which is why I happen to know this.)

In short, NO RELATION, other than Alon also happens to be a franchise owner -— a big owner.

That said, it is pretty much ALL convenience store policies to not resist a SIMPLE theft -— the amount is small & easily quantifiable from the register receipt, the money is the store’s, and the liability from a clerk killing the wrong person huge.

So a business decision was made to not resist a SIMPLE robbery -— kidnap, rape, leave-the-store robbery or the like -— all bets off and kill, scream, shoot, cooperate -— whatever is appropriate in the clerk’s eyes.

(That, and typically a clerk with a weapon is a drug dealer -— using your store as a base -— but that is another story.)

The MSM didn’t report the lie detector test because the MSM lies and obscures out of habit. Even when there’s no clear reason for doing so.
