The grass is always greener on Fred Thompson’s side of the fence. Always.

I guess that is why people are so on fire to knock him down.

As the only candidate who is acceptable to conservatives, acceptable to moderates, admired by the media and potentially saleable to independents - he knows how to act - he is also the only candidate on the Republican side who can win...

The major flaw in the is statement is Fred is not a candidate! It's sad to see Conservatives are so desperate as to support someone who hasn't even declared.

===============================

..........plus FRed is a RINO to the right of Rudy but way to the left of Bush I and Bush II, the hard cold truth all the FRed supporters CAN not deny....

You realize that Romney, your candidate, strongly supported campaign finance reform, and proposed banning PACs and taxing some campaign contributions...right?

You lose a lot of credibility when you attack other candidates for things your own candidate also supported.

“Eric Alterman”

Everything following those two words can therefore be disregarded.

“the fact is a great many evangelical conservatives in the south do not think Mormons are Christians”

It’s not just evangelicals in the south.

at least he supports someone other than a Hollywood actor on a liberal tv show called “Law and Order” that every episode goes to the liberal POV....

Just keep on misunderestimating that “Hollywood” actor who doesn’t live or work in Hollywood.

That’s GOOD for Fred.

>>>How is it that Fred Thompson represented you as a Senator and you don’t know where he stands on the issues? You didn’t vote for him or pay attention to his record in the senate?<<<

If you haven’t noticed, the issues have changed ever-so-slightly in the last few years. ;)

And my number one issue in this coming election regards illegal immigration. Thompson has been, at best, vague in addressing that issue. And his new campaign manager only muddies the water all of the more.

I disagree with Thompson pretty vehemently over tort reform. But on a number of issues, he’s had time to change his mind, which is why it’s also important that he begins to speak out. His admission that McCain-Feingold was no accomplishment is a start in the right direction, for instance.

I wouldn’t know; I’ve never seen Law and Order. I’m supporting Fred Thompson, staunch fiscal conservative and federalist.

On top of that, the Republican nominee is going to take the south regardless. So in the end, who gives a rip about a bunch of cranky evangelicals in the south? And I say that as an Evangelical Presbyterian from Tennessee.

Putting the vast expanses of the West, New England, and the midwest seems like a far better option to me.

Republicans have neglected the West for far too long. You saw some if in the last election. In states that have traditionally gone far more Republican than any in the south.

One, I agree that Fred is the best candidate, but two, I'm not convinced Romney couldn't win.

This article has nothing to do about how Thompson has become a contender.

Remember, this has been a GRASS ROOTS campaign in the early days. Fred had no thoughts of the WH, until people started to talk to him about it. Unlike the other candidates who have been pining for it since they walked into Congress or in Hillary the carpetbagger's case, the White House. She wants to be queen. Nothing less.

How easily we all forget that this is how FDT started, not with some money machine or fanatical exercise in power playing to get into a position for the election. Fred is using what he knows works best for HIM to get into the race, not any of what all of you think.

For the first time, in a LONG, LONG time, we have a potential candidate who has the charisma, the communication skills, and the understanding of what it takes to not only win the White House, but what direction to take the country, together, united as one.

You can deny, obfuscate, dismiss, or ignore any of the reality in the polls going on in the race, but the truth is still the truth. Thompson will run, and say so when HE is damn good and ready, not by any of your supposed standards and not running in any way shape or form we have seen previously. And he will win, against ANY of the Democraps that step up.

This will be the first INTERNET election in history, FDT KNOWS how that system works, look at his rapid response to Moore, and his blog entries. HE is doing that, not some secondary functionary. FDT knows that the Internet will provide him with a soapbox untapped in history, and he knows how to communicate his ideas, simply, thoughtfully and to the point.

You can scream 'HE IS NOT RUNNING' til you grow hoarse. It's not for you to decide when for him, it's when HE is ready. And make no mistake, when Fred does say "I'm in", the money will start to pour in. Look at the sniping going on now, think the Democraps are not afraid? Think the Repub candidates are not afraid?

Look at the responses in this thread. You can smell the fear.

We got you the 286 times you already said this, but keep on reminding us. By the way, how’s Congressman Hunter’s poll numbers these days? Has he broken through to 2% yet?

I'll say it whenever the misconception is stated Thompson is a candidate before he has declared. I don't know the poll numbers for any of the candidates. I take polls with a grain of salt and certainly don't use them to decide which candidate I support. It's far too early to support any particular candidate.

Don't know who you’re supporting but this is getting old - and insulting if you think we’re fooled.

John Kennedy didn’t ‘announce’ until Jan of the elections year.

You don't know who I'm supporting because I haven't stated in any post in any thread I am for a particular candidate! Go ahead and find any one of my posts stating I am for a candidate if you're so sure. Kennedy wasn't a candidate until he announced he was running for President! It's insulting to try and fool people into believing someone is a candidate before he or she has declared.

Fred has been smart not to hurl himself into the kindergarten “debates” and scurrying around with the rest who act like a bunch of snot nosed kids jockeying for the camera.

the campaigning starts months too early - and for office holding candidates, they aren’t doing the job they are be paid to do. I would think that a year would be time enough for a candidate to get their points across -

I agree but that's all irrelevant because it doesn't changed the fact he is not a candidate!

Sorry Fred is likely to spell trouble for your candidate, but give it a break a’ready

You should be sorry for making an assumption without providing any facts.
