It seems like so long ago that we got to enjoy an HD football game and the wait is almost over.
Sure it's only pre-season, but at this point in the year, we'll take whatever football we can get. Plus, in another month the regular season gets underway and it promises to be the best season yet for HD fans.
The Hall of Fame game kicks off the season on the NFL Network in HD, which is the first of nine live games carried by them this year. As great as the NFL Network is, the real problem is that many people don't get it, 'cause their cable co' can't get the deal done -- just another reason for NFL fans to switch to DirecTV(NOTE: not my endorsement for DTV-LVD).
Unfortunatly not all the NFL games will be presented in HD this year, so if you want to see which games will be, head over to HDSportsguide.com to find out who the lucky ones are.
The pinged subjects will be those of HDTV technology, satellite/cable HD, OTA (over the air with various roof top and indoor antennas) HD reception. Broadcast specials and any and all subjects relating to HD.

HDNet to Air Endeavour Launch
The launch will mark NASA's 22nd mission to the space shuttle.
Washington, D.C. (August 3, 2007) -- HDNet will air a live broadcast of the launch of the STS-118 Space Shuttle Endeavour on Tuesday, August 7.
The High-Definition network will begin coverage at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday with the shuttle launch scheduled for 7:02 p.m. ET.
The shuttle launch, which will mark the 22nd U.S. mission to the International Space Station, will carry a seven-member crew including Barbara Morgan, a teacher who was originally chosen as the backup to Christa McAuliffe for NASA's "Teacher in Space" program in 1985.
McAuliffe and her six fellow crew members died when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded on January 28, 1986.
Morgan was selected by NASA as a mission specialist in January 1998 and this will be her first trip into space.
HDNet says it will also broadcast three unmanned NASA rocket launches later this month, including the Delta 2 Phoenix rocket which will travel to Mars. And the network will cover the landing of Endeavour on August 20.
And of course it’s the weekend I’m working graveyard. Grrrr.....
I watched last year’s Super Bowl game in HD on a 36” Sony CRT HDTV. I subscribed to our available HD channels and was connected the day before the game. The improvement in picture quality over digital broadcast surprised me. I thought digital was great, but HD is better.
I may start watching the Cowboy games again now that Phillips is head coach. Now if J. Jones would sell the Cowboys and/or just go away, I definitely would watch more games.
You’ve got to be kidding me... they moved it to NFL Network? So let me get this straight: In order to force the hands of cable providers that rightfully believe that the NFL is being too demanding and not picking up the channel, they’re going to punish us non-cable users who got the HOF Game for free on NBC and ABC the past umpteen years and move it to their own (IMO crummy) channel? Talk about jerks.
Will Dish carry the game ?
I assume so, if you have the NFL(HD) channel.
Found this
NFL Network will televise the preseason classic. It marks the first time that NFL Network will carry the game.
And if you have DISH with NFL channel, I expect it will be on..
Hi Las Vegas Dan, Could you please add me to your HDTV ping list? Thank you.
Speaking of Las Vegas, While looking at hundreds of flat-screens that are hanging all over your town I noticed the GREAT majority of them are Panasonics. Kinda tells ya something there...Like maybe my next TV should be a Panasonic.
One interesting thing I've noticed. With a regular DVD player (non HD) the picture quality of the projector is OK, Not bad but not great. BUT if the movie in question was shot digitally (latest Star War movies, War of the Worlds) then even with a regular dvd player the picture is pretty much HD quality. Not sure why that is but I'm not complaining.
The NFL is the #1 thing that is driving HDTV sales.
Wow, Thats a GREAT price for a TV that big. I haven’t been shopping for one in a while and didn’t realize how much the prices have been dropping.
My friends sister in-law just scored a job as Jack Welch from GE’s personal assistant. She said he has 2 40’’ Sony HD crt’s he’s throwing out, about a year old. ( It’s nice to be rich). She said she will grab me one this weekend for free. I’m pretty psyched!
Funny how the former CEO from GE owns Sony’s. I guess he’s not stupid. :)
Thank you. New Dish channels seem to turn up from time to time.
