Yep it cost us, between state and fed spending, over 1 billion dollars to set up a train line from down town Minneapolis to the Airport with a spur to the Mall of America. That spur line is maybe 1/2 a mile long at most.
About half the money was Federal. They have all sorts of grandiose plans for more lines, hopefully the Republicans in this state will grow a spine and put an end to this foolishness before it wastes any MORE money.

Hey we’re not all Scandinavians or dems here. And according to some statistic I read somewhere, we send way more money to the feds than they send to us. After all, it’s not like we’re represented by Ted Kennedy, or Murtha, or Byrd or anyone of those other Kings of Pork. The only people we send to Washington with their hand out are putting it on the Koran during their swearing in ceremony.

The Feds need to let states pay for their own roads. Stop with the federal gas taxes and just let states take care of it. All this does is make states more dependent on the feds. These federal gas taxes are going into the general spending fund just like the Socialist Security taxes.

Dirty Little Secret:
Everyone clamors for money out of the pot.
They think, hey, why shouldn’t I get my share?
In fact, why not ask for as much as possible.
Of course, everyone else is doing the same thing, thus making the pot grow bigger and bigger.
You’re paying for everyone else’s grab.
Like Three-Card-Monte, it relies on human greed, and it works.
