Police in Glenwood Springs released a sketch Thursday of a man they would like to talk with regarding the shooting of their officers earlier this week.
Authorities said a police officer was shot in the chest late Sunday but survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.
Police said the officer had spotted two men walking near some businesses and storage areas south of the Glenwood Springs Airport at about 11 p.m. Sunday and repeatedly ordered them to stop...
They kept going, but one turned and fired several shots at the officer. Police said the officer returned fire, but it isn't clear whether either suspect was hit.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males...

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Anthony “Speedy” Villegas should be considered armed and dangerous.
Villegas is also wanted nationwide on a drug-related warrant.

They are not bulletproof, resistant, yes, proof - no.
OTOH, thank goodness the officer was wearing a vest.
He and his family are happy that the vest took most the shot.
Do we know yet that he’s illegal?
Seems that the police are acting with a bit more urgency in chasing down this shooter, when compared with the Basalt police’s approach.
The police and the FBI have released nothing about his citizenship that I can find. Maybe his associate is illegal ?

Shooting a cop likely gets more attention than shooting a 7-11 store. Plus Basalt has issues.

A man whose alias is “Speedy” wasn’t fast enough to elude police, who arrested him on outstanding warrants on Saturday, just hours after naming the 19-year-old as a suspect in the recent shooting of a Glenwood Springs officer.
Anthony Villegas, aka “Speedy,” was taken into custody and at press time was waiting to be booked at the Garfield County Jail. His last known address was in New Castle.
Villegas was arrested on felony drug, failure to comply and aggravated motor vehicle theft warrants...
