Drawing Fire, Judith Giuliani Gives Her Side
The New York Times ^ | August 5, 2007 | ERIC KONIGSBERG

Posted on 08/04/2007 2:04:14 PM PDT by sitetest

It has not been an easy few months for Judith Giuliani. Her rollout to the public received rocky reviews from the political class, Republicans included. A series of negative articles about her shopping habits, marital past and supposedly testy relations with campaign staff followed. Her appearances alongside her husband, Rudolph W. Giuliani, grew suddenly scarce — and some analysts suggested that she keep it that way.

So it was perhaps no surprise that at a recent lunch in downtown Manhattan, Mrs. Giuliani offered this self-assessment: “When it comes to politics, I’m new to this.”

Over the course of a two-hour interview, Mrs. Giuliani, 53, talked for the first time about how she met Mr. Giuliani and about their first date. (He asked her out, she said.)

~ snip ~

“I’m sure that’s something that can get one into, you know — ” She did not finish the thought, but allowed her hands to flutter cautiously before going on. “But I try to remain me. And again, part of that is not doing anything more than I have to in terms of making myself in any way a distraction from what my husband is trying to do for America.”

Not becoming a distraction to her husband, a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, appears to be an elusive goal.

~ snip ~

...she cuts a figure that Mr. Giuliani’s aides say will appeal to Republican voters. Husband and wife agree that Laura Bush is a model for Mrs. Giuliani.

But Judith carries some distinctly un-Laura baggage. Like her husband, she has been married twice before. They also had a secret affair for a year before Mr. Giuliani announced it to the world — and to his second wife, Donna Hanover — at a news conference.

HOW AWFUL! No wonder she favors abortion! People that mutilate animals eventually graduate up to humans.

So true. Histories of infamous serial killers found they engaged in animal torture and mutilation as youngsters.

Why do “politicians” suddenly come to mind as a proper substitute?

LOL-----sounds OK to me.

Dear Jim Noble,

I knew you were still around, and a Rudy-booster. If you know any others, could you ping them?

Thanks,

She is not Laura Bush and never will be remotely close. Her baggage is already out there. And she still decided it was alright to date a married man, no matter how bad the marriage was.

We don’t need anymore baggage to be reminded of like we had with the Clintons.

Hey look, abortion will never be banned until the Taliban takes over.

I have come to pray that Rudy will get the nomination because his loss will destroy the GOP coalition, and I'm quite sure plenty of other pro-lifers wouldn't want to be in the same party with people like you.

Forgive my ignorance but what is “stapling of dogs” like neutering or spaying or like stomach stapling?

I am also (sort of) a Rudy supporter, although I could vote for Fred or Mitt in the general. I am more in sync with Rudy on social issues—guns, god and gays—from more of a libertarian outlook. However, I have actually changed my views on illegal immigration, so I want the border fence built now. When Guiliani was Mayor of NYC he did not enforce immigration laws—just like Bloomberg and Dinkins.

I agree with poster above that paring Rudy with strong conservative VP running mate may make this a winning ticket.

Exactly what are you suggesting as a punishment for women you catch getting abortions once they are illegal? What about friends and family members who are involved? Would you convict and pay for them to be imprisoned? And do you plan on rounding up ladies and their cohorts who broke your new law retroactively?

Shame on you for wishing the destruction of the conservative party and advocating the dogmatic exclusion of centrist/realists!!! Your strategy will give it to the Gimmedats. Just like the contrarian idiots who voted Perot and ushered in Clinton. You Freepers need to open up all sides of your tent!

Guiliani will not affect abortion one way or another. It is not an issue.

I agree (does that mean I should say ping?)
The majority view in the country re abortion is “allow, but discourage”. which appears to be where Guiiani is on the issue.

I didnt realize Cynthia Tucker was a Freeper. But only a mind as vapid as hers could come up with a post like the one you just wrote. No, I don’t want to be in the same tent as you. Frankly, I don’t want to be in the same universe as you!

I love how these posts about Rudy's whore du jour the First-Lady-to-be (in your dreams!) bring the Rudybots out of the woodwork. I thought you guys had all found some other forum more to your tastes. (Daily Kos, isn't it?)

Answer the question instead of insulting me.

Here's how Rooty dumped his wife and mother of his children for Judi, the "homespun girl next door:"

With Judi waiting in the wings, public records show then-Mayor Rudy actually called a press conference to publicly announce his separation from his second wife EXCEPT THAT HE HAD NOT BOTHERED TO TELL HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN BEFOREHAND THAT HE WAS DUMPING THEM FOR JUDI.

Public records show Rudy publicly announced to the press his separation from his wife who had no inkling Rudy was dumping her and his children out into the streets.

At that time, Rudy, the married father of two children, was taking Judi, his mistress, to cancer treatment sessions. He never bothered to tell his wife about his illness, and probably his children did not know, either.

Finally, Rudy, then married and the father of two, decided he could not live without Judi closeby; Rudy connived to bring Judi into the Mayoral home (on the spurious claim that Hanover wasn't helping him through cancer treatments---an illness he had not even bothered to tell his wife about).

In a callous, vindictive move even for a visceral liberal, public records show Rudy publicly announced he wanted to "divide the mayoral mansion" in two----one side for his wife AND one side for Judi---which was nothing but a transparent ploy to force his wife and children out into the streets.

Public documents indicate Hanover was forced to go to court to declare Gracie Mansion a "marital home" so as to exclude Judi. The judge acquiesced to Hanover's plea.

Thwarted but not defeated, Rudy moved in with a happily civil-unioned gay couple while his wife fended off Rudy's relentless efforts to ditch her and their two children.

On Mother's day 2000, married Rudy, the father of two children, publicly paraded Judi up and down Second Avenue for newspaper pictures, pics his children could not fail to see.

The evilness of a father's betrayal of his own wife and children astonished even blasé New Yorkers.

Giuliani's vendetta against his wife and children was still not sated.

Public documents indicate Rudy cut the security detail to his wife and the mother of his children, thus endangering her......but Rudy did provide government security to Judi who had no official duties (unless you consider getting Rudy sexually blitzed an "official duty".)

By the way, I do not boost or promote Rudy on Mr. Robinson's website.

Once in a while, the subject comes up in another context.

So that’s what “stapling” means. I’m appalled!

Rooty rooters must cringe at his fumbling of the dog-stapling issue when it erupted back in April 2007.

"I wouldn't dignify it with a comment" was Giuliani's reply when asked about his wife's dog-stapling.

Did Rooty or his handlers even think of asking Judi whether she had things in her background they should know about it?

Cripes, even a chick who was sexually blitzing a married father of two should have know that killing and stapling puppies was a campaign killer.

Keep in mind Rooty gets big bucks for being a global expert on "crisis management." And his own campaign's crisis management?.......well, you can't win em' all (snicker).

Come to find out, Judi also had an extra husband she never mentioned.

All public records of her and Rooty's marriage mention only one former husband, leaving open the possibility that Rooty was in the dark about Judi's serial marriages, as well.

Keep in mind that Rooty markets himself as a "security expert" (which entails rigorous fact-checking).
