Sosa used and abused, and A-rod did too, but did either come close to comparing with teary-eyed Mark Maguire?
I wasn’t around for it but whose home run record did Babe Ruth break?
Bonds has always been a talented ballplayer and he's stayed in good shape too. But he isn't the only one. Hitting homesruns at 43 years old isn't the issue.
Now look at Bonds seasons 2000-2004 and you'll see five straight years of statistics that go well beyond the best season he ever had at a younger age. Why? Steroids!
How can ya’ll say that steroids are going to make a HUGE difference is performance when it comes to hitting homeruns, the hardest ability to master of all sports? You can’t tell me that steroids are going to be able to increase his hand-eye coordination in such a way that he is going to hit so many more homeruns than he would without. At best, I would say there may be a handful of balls that would have gone to the warning track that went over as a result of steroids. I think it’s great that he broke the record and he has worked his ass off to do it. Look at his numbers, only his 2001 season when he broke McGwire’s record is there an unusual number of homeruns.
I am sitting around 2 miles from Petco Park here in San Diego. I will add ***
You are absolutely right. Bonds doesn’t deserve all the crap he’s getting. Way to go, Barry!
On July 18, 1921, Babe Ruth hit career home run 139, breaking Roger Connor’s record of 138 during only the 8th year of a 22 year career.
Roger Connor, 138 homers.

Thank you. Whose record did Roger Break?.....(((just kidding)))
Naturally, he has the accuracy but not the distance or longevity to excel this long.
Barry Bonds is a fraud. [spit]
Beat me by a minute!
You poor pathetic n00b you. How long have you been affiliated with the Giants organization?
Commissioner Bud Selig stood up and put his hands in his pockets while Bonds' family hugged and high-fived. When Bonds crossed the plate, he lifted his batboy son, Nikolai, and carried him several steps in an embrace.
The Petco Park crowd stood and cheered, with some boos mixed in, when the San Francisco slugger homered off Clay Hensley in the second inning. Several fans held up asterisk signs.
Bonds was booed as he headed to left field at the end of the inning.
Are you sure? Looks like 699 to me......
Yawn... There’s a football game tomorrow.
Ruth probably was the home run leader after his first 75.
