Bob Feller played before and after serving in WWII. I'm pretty sure he never used steroids (he's still alive and well and living in the Cleveland area). I don't think Nolan Ryan used steroids either.
Knowing President Bush, I would expect him to call him just as he would anyone else who surpasses such a milestone. I am a Braves fan and for this and other reasons do not care for Barry Bonds, but his name will appear in the record books forever as the one who passed the great “Hammering Hank”. Although the latter is true, it is also true that he can never surpass the class and the character of Henry Louis Aaron.
No.
I read somewhere that Barry puts the “ass” in asterisk.
He will and even if he wasn't a baseball fan he would have to. It would look racist.
He a cheater and drug addict... bonds sucks.

Good points. I agree that had Bonds been friendlier to the media a lot of this would have never become an issue. Back in the 60’s and 70’s announcers and sportswriters used to chuckle as umpires tried to find where Gaylord Perry hid the foreign substance(s) with which he doctored the ball. But he’s in the Hall of Fame with nary a comment despite being CAUGHT cheating. But he was “good old Gaylord Perry.” I could be wrong, but I think Don Sutton was accused of doctoring the ball too, but there he’s in the Hall too. (If I’m wrong about Sutton I apologize.)
I don’t know much about Andro or whatever, but obviously a lot of people who point to pictures of Bonds before and after never saw Mark McGwire in the early 90’s as opposed to the behemoth that he became. But again, he was a lovable lug playing in one of the most home team player-friendly cities in the world, St. Louis.
Bob Feller, Nolan Ryan, and a few others threw 90+ mph heaters when they were pitching, but they were considered the exception rather than the rule. It’s the norm now. I don’t know if it’s better conditioning, technique or whatever. I don’t think that that can be a factor either way because then you could get into the whole issue of Babe Ruth hitting his homers that counted against only white guys, Aaron against only Americans and few Hispanics, and Bonds againt the whole world. That’s not something any of them could control, so I don’t think that it’s relevant.
Teams have been known to freeze balls or bake balls to help their pitchers. Should we put an asterisk after all of those pitchers’ records too? Oh wait, that’s the old “competitive advantage” thing that we chuckle about, just like soaking the base baths, letting the grass grow or cutting it short to help the home team, grooving bats, scuffing baseballs, stealing signs, phantom tags of second on double plays, etc. Face it...baseball is all about cheating. It’s my favorite sport, but players cheat constantly. If people get caught they should pay for it...but I don’t think Bonds has been proven “guilty” or tested positive yet.
Hillary will make Bonds her drug czar.
Name me a guy who hasn’t gained a little weight between the time he was nineteen and the time he turned 43.
I just don’t like Barry Bonds for some reason...rubs me the wrong way like he is an arrogant prick.
Who cares he hit some home runs? He is a loser and will remain a loser; he just now is a loser that does drugs, too.
See, I like Mark McGuire, regardless of the fact he doped up.
For some reason I despise Barry Bonds; I don’t fully understand why, but I can’t stand the guy.
I say this........a big CONGRATULATIONS to Barry Bonds!!!!! You did it........despite the naysayers and critics....you set a goal and man, you got it done....those who denigrate it are showing their smallness, not yours....good for you, Barry!!! Right on!!! You soldiered through it all and you did it!!
No. I bet Bonds says something nasty to Bush.
Still, I'm happy for Barry. I have no idea if he used performance enhancing drugs or not, but still, it's a milestone achievement and when he passes Hank Aaron, probably sometime this week or next, people should applaud his achievement and success.
It's true that Bonds has acted quite cold towards the media, but really- who can blame him? Sportswriters can be, and usually are, ruthless vultures.
No I didn't. But that doesn't mean that the they-all-are-doing-it claim is true. It isn't and they don't. I do respect the irony that one 'stoider (Bonds) tied the record via a pitch from another 'stoider.
Should Bush call Barry Bonds? (Vanity)
Coming soon in a new episode of Lil Bush!
It seems to be more than normal weight gain. His body type seems to have changed. Naturally? Is that the question you are asking?
That just looks like Aussie rules baseball, something American baseball could use more of. Yes, turn it into a contact sport by all means. But not with bulked up players.
