Bush Still Wields the Threat of Terrorism ...(Democrats outmaneuvered by the White House)
New York Times ^ | August 7, 2007 | Jim Rutenberg

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 — Until last weekend, President Bush had repeatedly fallen short in seven months of battles with a Democratic-led Congress that would not give him what he wanted on immigration or education, health care or energy policy.

But the Congressional vote that authorized eavesdropping without warrants on international communications, including those involving Americans within the United States, has shown that there is at least one arena in which Mr. Bush can still hold the line: terrorism. (See, “Democrats, Republican accusations of being weak on ...”)

The Democrats’ critique of Mr. Bush’s conduct of the war in Iraq certainly contributed to their victory in midterm elections last November. And the Democratic candidates for president can count on thunderous applause when they attack Mr. Bush for his failure to capture Osama bin Laden, and for a heavy-handed approach at home.

But while the Democrats had hoped to leave town for the August recess on an upbeat note, Mr. Bush and his party succeeded in outflanking them with veiled — and not so veiled — warnings that any failure to give the president the authority he sought would leave his rivals liable in the event of another terrorist attack.

For a president who has played defense most of the year, relying on veto threats and, in terms of Iraq, almost plaintive pleas for time, it was a rare, winning use of offense. The victory points up an enduring challenge for Democrats, even as they have gained other advantages over Mr. Bush and his fellow Republicans.

“Everybody was afraid they might be branded as soft on terrorism,” Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, a Democratic presidential candidate, said Monday while speaking to Iowa voters.

Bush Still Wields the Threat of Terrorism?

Typical evil NYT headline writers. Bush is not “wielding the threat of terrorism.”

The Democrats ARE soft on terrorism and national security. The American people are not stupid. Ever since they took office, the Democrats have been working to appease America's enemies and weaken our fight against them. They have a huge credibility problem with the public. Their words run counter to their conduct. And no amount of spin and public relations by the MSM on their behalf can conceal the fact the Democrats have no plan to make our country safer in the face of the present danger of our time.

The Democrats and the NYT think 9/11 never happened. Whatever other mistakes Bush made, he kept us all safe until now and the Democrats have never forgiven him for being successful. They put their hatred of the President above the welfare of our country. History will judge them harshly.

.

.
.
Moreover they lament it not happening on their watch,
and because it didn’t -
The activist wing of the DNC, the MSM will not show images or footage of 9-11.

I’ll be leaving for the store in a few minutes, so I’ll be walking by a stack of newspapers. I will make sure to look at the NYT front page and see if the arrest of TWO MUSLIM “COLLEGE STUDENTS” DRIVING NEAR A NUKE SUB BASE WITH PIPE BOMBS is on the front page.

President Bush is still weilding that threat of terrorism? GOOD. THANK GOD ALMIGHTY.

“”...President Bush had repeatedly fallen short in seven months of battles with a Democratic-led Congress that would not give him what he wanted on immigration or education, health care or energy policy.””

The NY Times is dillusional about the above. Bush has only signed one bill that democrats have wanted...and that was the minimum wage. Sometimes I think the MSM takes hallucinogenic drugs to create their own alternative reality.

In all, only 41 House Democrats voted for it ...

And how many House Republicans, other than Ron Paul, voted with the dems on any of the pull out measures?

Exactly right, because they are not only soft opposing terrorism, but strong on opposing democracy and strong on helping Al Queda.

That comment makes Obama sound like he and the other Democrats are more concerned with politics than what they think is right.

Liberals suffer from Arabism decease. What is Arabism decease? It is a severe condition of delusion when one sees himself all powerful and victorious over his enemy when in reality he is utterly defeated. The President won each battle he fought with the democrats in the war on terror in general and in the war in the Iraqi theater in particular but the democrats still in denial that they have been crushed in each encounter with the President. They are like Arabs lot of macho talk but at the end they lose the real battles.
