State Sen. Carole Migden will be charged with one misdemeanor count stemming from a wild ride in her state vehicle this spring that ended with a wreck on Highway 12 outside of Fairfield.
Migden, D-San Francisco, will be charged Friday, L. Kathryn Coffer, chief deputy district attorney of Solano County, said Wednesday. Coffer would not specify what charge Migden would face.
But she said the state senator will not be arrested or booked into jail, and will allowed to appear with her attorneys in court, as is customary in misdemeanor cases.
Representatives of the district attorney's office met with Migden's lawyers Wednesday before reaching their decision.
The California Highway Patrol in June recommended that state Migden be charged with reckless driving after an erratic ride down the Interstate 80 corridor on May 18 that included two accidents and several 911 calls from concerned motorists.
At the time, a spokesman for the CHP's Golden Gate Division said Migden was at fault in the accidents in her state-issued Toyota SUV, sideswiping a guardrail and rear-ending another car.
In the first, on Interstate 80 in Vallejo, the CHP said she made an unsafe turn. In the second, on Highway 12 near Beck Avenue outside Fairfield, the CHP determined that the San Francisco Democrat was traveling at an unsafe speed.
Migden's use of a cell phone while driving contributed to both crashes, the CHP said.

GUILTY
“Migden, D-San Francisco, . . .”
Migawd! First words in the second sentence of the article. They actually mention she is a Democrat early, early in the piece instead of burying it in the last half. The end times are nigh.
Judgment and punishment both suspended. The leftists need her during this political season.
One set of rules....
Good Heavens!! I don’t know how something like that is even allowed out into the public let alone in a vehicle. Gag.
Glad to see she will face charges. She is not only a good Democrat but a good lesbian. So she thought she had double indemnity based on her membership in these groups.
The results of her Blood Test should be released so We the People could see if she is being treated differently than us the little people. sounds like a cover up to me
It was obviously more than distraction from using a cell-phone - she should be hit with a DUI. I can see you getting off with a slap on the wrist for one fender-bender, but this woman went on a 12-mile rampage that was only stopped when her car was physically unable to continue moving. Unbelievable.
I hope to hear the outcome of these charges. See if they are serious or just putting on a show.
Right. Either she shouldn’t have a license because she doesn’t know how to drive or she was blasted.
Reckless driving? for starters !!
I am sadden to report she is my state senator. It is lonely being a conservative in the bay area.
It is indeed a vast desert wasteland where the seeds of goodness can find no purchase.
Tell me-are you forced to be in the closet with your religious/political beliefs?
We hate it here, and look forward to moving to a more conservative friendly area as soon as possible.
Yes. They're both liberals, they have similar attitudes, and they share a preference for female intimate companions.
Come to Escondido! Conservatives welcome here.
Thanks anyway, but hubby is an LA refugee. SoCal is probably too close to border & 3rd world strip mall that is LA to suit him. He never wants to get near that place again. He calls it the concrete wasteland or something.
We do wander down there occasionally to visit relatives & give our regards to Mickey though.
I did notice that there were far more American flags flying around Torrance & Lomita than you ever see in our area. I really liked that. LA wasn’t all that bad. But I still wouldn’t want to live in that area.
We plan on getting out of California someday. But then we will probably have to face prejudice from people who will think we’re just like all those weirdos in SF. DIY do, DIY don’t. LOL!
Amen to that!
