A ranking House Republican yesterday demanded a hearing based on recent reports that Islamic terrorists embedded in the United States are teaming with Mexican drug cartels to fund terrorism networks overseas.
Rep. Ed Royce, ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs terrorism and nonproliferation subcommittee, said the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) document first reported yesterday by The Washington Times highlights how vulnerable the nation is when fighting the war on terrorism.
"I'll be asking the terrorism subcommittee to hold a hearing on the DEA report's disturbing findings," said Mr. Royce of California. "A flood of name changes from Arabic to Hispanic and the reported linking of drug cartels on the Texas border with Middle East terrorism needs to be thoroughly investigated."
Likewise, Rep. John Culberson, Texas Republican, said the DEA document revealed startling evidence that Islamic radicals are camouflaging themselves as Hispanics while conducting business with violent drug-trafficking organizations.
"I have been ringing the bell about this serious threat of Islamic individuals changing their surnames to Hispanic surnames for three to four years," Mr. Culberson said. "Unfortunately, Homeland Security's highest priority is to hide the truth from Congress and the public. I just hope we're not closing the barn door after terrorists have already made their way in."

Right out of Tom Clancy’s “Teeth of the Tiger”.
As BJ deserves a fair amount of blame for 911, W will deserve blame for the next 911 if they got in through Mexico.
Hmmmm. Maybe all these Hispanic crimes are terrorists using them to do there dirty work.
Will our leaders pounce on this as fast as they did ME Islamists after 9/11?
We shall see.
no more cartels
less crime on the border and overall
tax revenue
stop wasting the time of cops and border agents
everyone who wants to smoke weed can get it in about 10 minutes. in some places you can have it delivered.
the law is a laughingstock joke that nobody pays attention to anyway
I personally don’t use it, (actually I’m allergic to it) but I just don’t care what people smoke, I mean, who gives a crap.
Marijuana laws are bought and paid for and enforced by the alcohol industry. No one else cares.
i wont even go into the paradox of alcohol (responsible for death, crime, social disorder) being legal while pot is ‘illegal’. I wont go into the fact to prohibition enriches criminals and never works and never will work, it’s too stupid to even talk about.

I don't think so. Mexico is the number one supplier to the U.S. of most illegal drugs especially methanphetamine. Eliminating the marijuana smuggling would have some effect but it would not stop the drug cartels or the border crime. Sealing the border, however, would.
As BJ deserves a fair amount of blame for 911, W will deserve blame for the next 911 if they got in through Mexico.Words of wisdom, DogBarkTree. Words of wisdom.
and you are right about meth and coke and H, but without having to bother with pot, many more resources could be made available for real issues like these.
Similar cases have been reported years earlier. Bush and Congress should not possibly be so uninformed as not to know it. Makes one wonder about their motives in their obsession to cater to illegal aliens and promote an open border.
Here are some more dots for connection. Mexican govt always related in some way to drug cartels and the terrorism connected with them. Now Mexico has signed a joint economic and cultural agreement with Iran to be implemented next year..is this an official open door for furtherance of drug cartel, terrorist hookups with Iran which will impact US in a most unfavorable way? Yes, in my opiinion it is. Does the ‘cultural’ exchange mean more Mosques in Mexico? Maybe so. Should any investivative committee of the US Govt. be aware of Mexicos new agreement with Iran..yes, it does ...here is the link, read it carefully: http://www2.irna.ir/en/news/view/line-22/0707225493010242.htm
Here is the link printed out: Iran-Mexico reach agreement on creating joint economic commission
Madrid, July 22, IRNA
Iran-Mexico-Joint Commission
Iran and Mexico reached an agreement to set up a joint economic commission next year.
In a meeting between Iran’s new Ambassador to Mexico Mohammad Hassan Qadiri-Abyaneh with Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Lurdes de Aranda the agreement was achieved.
Qadiri also invited Mexico to attend the Non-Aligned Movement foreign ministers meeting in Tehran on human rights and cultural diversities.
Iran’s plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassador to Mexico expounded on Tehran stances on regional issues, especially Iraq and the results of Iran-USA negotiations about Iraq security and said Islamic Republic of Iran policy is to support national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq.
Mexico deputy FM, for her part, said her country’s policy is to support peace, security and independence of the countries and has always defended negotiation and dialogue as a way to solve disputes between the countries.
The Mexican senior diplomat also expressed her country’s readiness to expand ties with Iran especially in cultural and economic fields.

This is how the Nazis sought to infiltrate the US during WWII.

What barn door? It fell off it’s hinges years ago.
It is also more evidence that our open borders have become combat zones and the Border Patrol should be "judged" (for lack of a better word) based upon that, not mere monitoring the border and admonishing border crossers.

Just got back to town, catching up.
