"In this delusional need to justify this right [to an abortion], we have fallen back on rape and incest cases, which represent an infinitesimally small amount of cases."
So said Mary Ann Sorrentino, former director of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island, at a panel discussion by pro-choice advocates in Edgartown, Mass., Wednesday night.
The galling thing is that Sorrentino made that true comment while arguing for abortion rights. Pro-choicers in her view are not fanatic enough. They need to justify the killing of the unborn for any reason whatsoever and "By Any Means Necessary." But she doesn't use the word "unborn" preferring "a potential human life."
As if human fetuses had only the potential to be developing human beings, rather than being actual ones. Maybe she thinks they sometimes develop into a pony or something.
The article also contains some "choice" quotes from United Methodist Church minister Vicky Hanjian, a former Planned Parenthood nurse.
"As I listen to the religious rhetoric around reproductive rights," she said, "I find myself wondering, is there another Bible I don't know about?"
Well, yes. But that's not the answer Hanjian, who likely assisted in dozens of abortions a week during her time at Planned Parenthood, was looking for. The article goes on:
People are often seduced by what appears to be the obvious meaning of words on the page, she said, but liberals less versed in scripture could take confidence in the justice and personal responsibility that rest in Jewish and Christian tradition.
Liberals less well versed in Scripture can take confidence in pretty much anything. And there are over 40 million slaughtered children since Roe vs. Wade to testify about abortion supporters' sense of justice and personal responsibility.
Personally, I think that justice includes the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And personal responsibility includes the responsibility to refrain from sex if one doesn't want children unless one is among the "infinitesimally small amount of cases" whose unborn children are the result of rape or incest ... and even those children deserve justice.

How anyone that has seen an ultrasound of an unborn baby and then proceeds to abort it, I really have no idea how they can live with themselves.
“[I]n the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, . . . [w]ithout natural affection.” 2 Tim. 3:1, 3.
People who deny the mental and emotional anguish of women who have had abortions are delusional. I've seen more women who spiral downwards into self-destruction after abortion than I can count.
Ah, but the true sophisticate knows that those words really mean w.h.a.t.e.v.e.r you want them to mean.
Edgartown. Yeeech... Lots of Muffy-the-baby-slayers.

In another venue, on a different but often ideologically similar issue, neither environmentalists, nor their supporters in the MSM, nor the regulatory machinery, nor the courts suffer from any confusion that when the egg of an endangered spotted owl is destroyed by someone, it is destroying a spotted owl. It is not, destroying the “products of conception” or destroying a “potential” spotted owl, or “as if”, or “like” destroying a protected species, it *is* destroying a protected species.
