In the world of big-time politics and publishing, the $900,000 deal that Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards got for his recent book was not extraordinary.

What jumped out was the source of Edwards' paycheck -- conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

I'm glad he's not my senator anymore. Wish he'd move farther away than Orange Cty.

Edwards has to be the biggest hypocrite of any candidate. Of course, this was probably obvious to most people when he charged 40k to make a speech on “poverty”.

I think Murdoch plays both sides of the fence - like many astute businessmen do.

He's a lawyer, remember!

Morals and ethnics don't mean swat when it comes to money for an extravagant lifestyle.

I don’t know.

I am only aware that he apparently owns a few media outlets that are deemed “too conservative” by several critics.

What I find most intersting is that the Raleigh N&O is generally what I would consider a more-to-the-left newspaper. Could this be a case of the dems “eating their own”?

I don’t consider myself to be the “black helicopter” or “microwaves coming from your TV mind control” paranoid type. But I do tend to be more sensitive to stories that are (what I see as) manipulative.

I already see Edwards for the phony type he is.

I just find it interesting that a newspaper will shine light on certain stories about certain individuals, while remaining silent on others.

John Edwards is the same as John McCain, his campaign is over, he just doesn’t know it.

He is not a conservative. Notice how carefully they described him...conservative media mogul. This could mean that he is an owner of conservative media. He is a business man and saw a niche which resulted in FoxNews....which is nowhere near as conservative as it once was. I think he supports Hillary.

Murdoch, by his own words is "on the conservative side", he just keeps his politics out of his business.

Who would be the target audience of an Edwards book? The moonbat left. What could be more fun than taking their money for a book that will be completely irrelevant before the ink dries?

Edwards (and the rest of the democrats) are such panderers.I am always amazed that anyone would believe their class envy crap since everyone of them is a multimillionaire.
They are proof positive that 50% of the people in America have a below average IQ.

Suprised he didn’t get a larger bribe from some publisher.

Good Lord! Give the man a break! That $900,000 will only buy 2,250 400-dollar haircuts!

A Senator is elected for a six-year term. A man's character stays with him for life, with no term limit or need to renew.
