Apparently Hardball host Chris Matthews has a bit of a problem keeping his lust in check on the air. On Friday evening's Hardball, Matthews was interviewing CNBC's Street Signs anchor, Erin Burnett, about the latest Wall Street news when suddenly he switched gears as you can see in this video. The official transcript isn't up yet on the MSNBC website but here is a transcription of the conversation as best I could understand it:
MATTHEWS: Could you get a little closer to the camera?
BURNETT: What is it? Is it (garbled) in strangely?
MATTHEWS: Come in closer...no...come in...come in further...come in closer...really close.
(Burnett leans towards camera.)
BURNETT: What are you, what are you doing?
MATTHEWS: Haw! Haw! Just kidding! You look great! Anyway, thank... Erin it's great to have...look at that look... You're great...
BURNETT: I don't even know. I'm going to have to go look at the tape here. I'm in a strange location.
MATTHEWS (laughing): No, you're beautiful! I'm just kidding! I'm just kidding! You're a knockout! Anyways thank you, Erin Burnett. It's alright getting bad news from you even. Okay. Thanks for coming on Hardball.
Chris, I know it was Friday night and Erin Burnett is indeed a knockout. However, perhaps you could be a little more subtle about your attraction for Erin. After all, among the few dozen of your Hardball viewers, Mrs. Matthews could have been watching your leering performance.

Looks to me as if she’s wearing blue contacts in the first picture, because in this pic she’s got brown eyes.
I am sure she felt the same way Suzy Kolber felt when Joe Namath started slobbering on her. She was probably first a little confused and thinking “What is he doing?”
Namath was a drunk ex-jock who actually made me feel sorry for him when he did it. Just pitiful and sad.
Chris Matthews makes a blood sport out of stabbing people in the back and slandering him. There is no level of embarrassment or humiliation that might be heaped on him that woud give me pause.

That was my first thought. Reminded me of the drunken Namath incident. Maybe if they'd been in the same room, Crissy would have asked for a kiss.

I don't think Chris even heard what she was saying. He was too busy drooling over her. It's like when I watched the Naked News. I couldn't even remember what the news was because I was so preoccupied by the nekkid female reporters. I used to think the Naked News was a great way to get the news. Problem was that I never could remember what was actually said.
WOW!! Now I kind of see where he was coming from, though that still doesn’t excuse it.
Couple of tads better than ugly, but pretty far from what I’d call a knockout....

Are you kidding? I bet if you could ever date a chick as hot as Erin, you would get down on your knees and thank the Almighty. Fact is that Erin IS a knockout!
Well put and so right. A person can’t even imagine Britt Hume acting so unprofessionally. If he had, the NAGS, liberals, and Drive-by Media would be in full MeltDown Mode. Chris Matthews loses all credibility after acting in such a manner.
Tickles and pricks? Sounds like an British pub. Or perhaps a law firm.
What Matthews did violates everything the NAGS and lib women have preached for years. Will we hear from them about Mr. Matthews behavour? No. It takes a conservative to bring criticism.
On a personal note, I would be flattered at such attention. Alas, being a 56 yr old spinster puts me beyond notice anymore.
