I sure hope that’s not an empty threat.

To expect this Israeli government to win a war against Syria is like expecting a different result this time. They couldn't even defeat Hezbollah. I have no confidence in Olmert and his crew and so do most Israelis. There isn't any one in Israel willing to risk their lives for the spineless politicians who run Israel's current government.

Now this is what I call, “Land for peace”.

Simple really.

We will see.

I would hope that Isreal would take a hard stand against this kind of threatening move, but I’m not so sure they will.

The loss by Isreal to the Hezbollah in last year’s little war really makes me sceptical of this.

Israel never does enough to scare the Syrians. They don’t kill enough.

Dealing with Syria ping.

The problems in the Middle East are interrelated, and Syria is one of the key links between the state-sponsoring links of terror.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

NOT “Until the missile barrage ends”.

Regime change.

The Israelis should come right out and say that if Syria attacks Israel, then Israel will kick out Assad and put the MAJORITY SUNNIS in charge, OVER the 10% MINORITY ALAWITE SHIITES that currently rule.

Not only would this scare the living poop out of the Alawites, but every Sunni power in the Middle East would be 100% behind Israel in doing it. Israel could even invite the Egyptian and Saudi armies to occupy Syria to insure that the Sunnis completely control the place.

And boy, howdy, would the Sunnis get revenge on the Alawites. And at the same time, that would be the end to many of the problems in Lebanon.

But the one thing Israel should NO NOT NEVER do is just go into Syria, take out some missiles, and leave.

Why is this news? Did we think Israel was going to send a thank-you card when Syria attacked?

Responding to missile attacks with a ground assault may be, IMO, a poor choice of tactics.

Were it me, I think I would respond in kind, with multiple missile strikes, on several military and command targets.

The reporter said Syria possesses thousands of missiles capable of hitting virtually any point within Israel. The only way to counter this threat, he said, would be to launch a swift strategic ground assault into Syria until the missile attack ceases

Israel should keep their diplomats’ muzzled. Better the Syrians be kept wondering, right up to the minute the tanks cross the border.
