BRANSON ATTACKS TV HOST
pr-inside ^ | 2007-08-14 13:44:50 -

Virgin boss RICHARD BRANSON threw a glass of water over U.S TV host STEPHEN COLBERT after he was banned from talking about his new budget airline.

Branson was being interviewed by Colbert in a front of a live studio audience in New York when he attacked the host.

Colbert, who fronts The Colbert Report, retaliated by throwing a bottle of water at Branson.

A Virgin spokesman insists Branson was invited on the show to talk about his new low cost U.S. service, but was banned from doing so once the cameras started rolling.

The spokesman adds, "Richard did throw his water over Stephen. As most people know, Richard can be unpredictable."

I’m amazed this is the first time this has happened to him or any of the other “funny” interviewers from the Daily Show.

I assume it will be aired anyway? Perhaps Branson didn’t “get” Colbert’s attempt at humor? He can be quite contrary just to rile up his guests.

The guy is a moron.

Why so many people like him I don’t know.

The idiot though Blairs departure day would be a nice day for him to sell his political opinion to the papers.

Class A cretin.

You don’t suppose Branson was unaware that the whole thing is a ruse do you?

Or perhaps we aren’t getting the whole story and the ruse is on us. Maybe Branson and Colbert were just carrying out the script and the whole news release is a bit of a farce...

There was a recent thread about Oprah. Apparently she invited someone on with the idea that the first half of the show would be a "hit-piece" but the second half would allow the guest to "redeem herself". So, they do the show, they get halfway through (they finish the hit piece) and then they "decide" not to do the second half.

Sounds like Branson went through something similar and reacted appropriately.

threw a glass of water

This sounds funnier than the regular show...too bad there wasn't a pie around to throw.

Branson needs to get knocked on his ass, a complete blackout of him and his business will teach him some manners, money does not give you license to behave badly.

I love the Colvert report! I love that quirky kind of back door humor. Some people don’t get it and perhaps Bran isn’t onto the gag

I’m no fan of Richard Branson, but I’ve had to restrain myself (on the grounds that my TV would be expensive to replace) from throwing things at Colbert on a few occasions.....

consider it the clash of two super egos. They remind me of the spoiled brat that throws a tantrum when things do not go his way.

The two “comedians” on the Daily Show are not the slightest bit funny. There’s not a conservative alive who won’t get seriously attacked by those two losers. But they sure love liberals and have nothing but praise for them.

Why any decent, honorable man would go ON the show is beyond me.

If Branson had been clever enough he could have used the ban as a discussion point and gotten his message out while having a drier but hilarious time.

Should have quizzed Colbert about the boundaries of what could and could not be mentioned about his airline all the while keeping it the entire topic of conversation.

Now if someone would do it to Russert Matthews and Couric I’d be thrilled.

Only a liberal would consider a glass of water being thrown at them as an attack.

Pantywaist.

As most people know, Richard can be unpredictable.

So are a lot of metally ill people.
