Conservatives Urged to Vote for Their Favorite RINO By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor August 14, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - Conservatives across the country are invited to cast votes for Republican politicians most deserving of a "RINO" (Republican In Name Only) award.
"After losing Congress in the 2006 election, and with the Party possibly facing the loss of the White House in 2008, conservatives are less than enthusiastic about their representatives and potential presidential candidates in the upcoming elections," said Daniel Gilbert, a North Carolina businessman who is inviting conservatives to cast votes on his "We the People Gilbert for President" website.
Gilbert, who describes himself as an "ordinary American just like you," says he is running for the Republican presidential nomination.
"Fed up with excessive spending, amnesty for illegal aliens, and weak positions on family values and abortion, conservatives across the country are frustrated that their voices have fallen on deaf ears. Until now," said a news release announcing the Top RINO awards.
Gilbert is urging conservatives to vote for Republicans who have abandoned certain core beliefs of conservatism.
"Unable to check a "You Blew It" box at the voting booth, frustrated conservatives can now simply click on their favorite RINO to cast their vote, sending a message to top Republicans that the RINO is now an endangered species," he said. "These core conservative issues are what separate the elephant from the rhino; that is, true Conservatives from liberal Republicans."

The premise is wrong.
“What it means to be a republican” has changed, not the members of the party themselves.
Despite what the “party platform” states, republicans by their actions have deviated so far from the ideals of conservatism, limited government, and fiscal responsibility that the gop can more accurately be described as “democratic-lite”
Now, perhaps it makes sense to vote for which republican most completely represents the new style gop............
Of course that honor goes to the decider himself.
exactly.
This is the only circumstance under which I’ll ever vote for a RINO....
This guy did (example: went from being a lifelong pro-abort to suddenly being 100% pro-life once he wasn't running for re-election), and alot of freepers immediately gushed over and him and ran out to buy his book. Incidentially, now that the GOP is no longer "in power", this guy is backing Mike Gravel for President. They don't call him Zig Zag for nothing.
