A single vote by a San Francisco Board of Supervisors member whose grandfather emigrated from China seven decades ago has halted in its tracks a proposal to condemn as "hate speech" radio personality Michael Savage's criticism of illegal aliens in the United States.
The vote tonight was 9-1, with third generation San Franciscan Ed Jew turning in the veto vote, after getting up and affirming Savage's First Amendment right to express his opinion.
Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval had introduced a resolution condemning the radio talker. After the vote, he called for the tally to be rescinded and the proposal sent to committee, which essentially is a polite way of letting the issue die.
"For the record, I do not agree with comments allegedly made by Mr. Savage, but the First Amendment gives him the right to make those comments," Jew said......

More reason for the San Fransickos to hate the evil JOOO.
Straight from the DailyKos site...”Now there is a good Jew!”

Was it supposed to be a unanimous vote? 9-1, is that 9 in favor of the resolution, or only 1 in favor?
According to what I heard earlier today, the resolution required a unanimous vote to pass. Jew’s lone vote against was enough to veto.
So 9 out of 10 members of the SF supervisors are anti first ammendment fascists.
No wonder the lefties don’t like the Jews anymore.
San Francisco Leftists are Stalinists.
Jew is under investigation himself. Maybe it’s a case of people who live in glass houses... However, this temporary setback won’t stop the fascists. I’m sure they have something else planned. They’re like pit pulls. They won’t stop.
Now THERE is some good old fashioned racism that won't be identified as such by the MSM.
Thanks for the clarification.
Savage ping!

Don't worry, they will eliminate the dissenter soon enough.
I used to be a liberal and visited daily kos often. The anti-israel sentiment on that site is enough to make you sick.
Welcome on the good side.
I don’t particularly care for Mike Savage ... but here’s to his right to speak his mind.
Personally - I think Savage is a borderline lunatic. He’s occasionally right on issues - but is FAR to angry, arrogant (a continual on-air reading of his resume is simply not necessary), and hyperbolic and generally paints a bad picture of conservatives. He’s kind of a wind-bag, has a bizarre manic-depressive streak in him, and seems to think he’s the end-all-be-all of conservatism. He has a tendency to overstate his case, generally rant and rave, and eventually go off the deep end on virtually EVERY issue (for instance, protesters - no matter how retarded their opinions - are not engaging in treason). In my opinion, he reflects poorly on conservatism.
That being said, his show is entertaining nonetheless, and this is a victory for liberty, freedom and conservative values - no matter your opinion of Savage himself.

“Rigid Formalism”? The First Amendment is now reduced to “Rigid Formalism” in San Francisco? Watch this, Sandoval: I’m raising my right hand, and one of its fingers is rigidly extended in formal salute. Perhaps thats’ a form of speech that you can more readily understand.
Ed Jew? Gesundheit!
