Russia’s G5 system of missile defense leaves far behind the S-400 systems that are coming into operation today. It is able to counter space attacks, said Russia’s Air Force Commander-in-Chief Col.-Gen. Alexander Zelin.

"Putin, get ready for war with the West."

Putin is a very proud man in a very proud nation. Oil was once the determining operations necessity in large conflicts. But he overestimates the significance of oil for the end of a contemporary large conflict.

The Scuds(1950s) & Katyushas(1940s) can’t be compared with those much later American weapons you talk about.

About the T-80,well it’s not seen combat yet & given, favourable air support, which users like South Korea & Russia can afford, take on anything.

OK, maybe not an M-48, but the M-60A3 could. I’m Artillery, not a DAT, or a CDAT.

As Stalin said, quantity has a quality all its own.

Tankers I know wish the M-1 had a trap door in the bottom, like the M-60, to relieve themselves.

sukhoi, the South Koreans don’t have any T model tanks, but I knew what you meant.

Does Putin really want a cold war, or is he ready for a hot war the next time?

"Does Putin really want a cold war, or is he ready for a hot war the next time?"

Good question.

Some of Putin's Stalinist-like, West bashing, strongman posturing is for domestic consumption, due to various domestic issues within the real Russian empire (outside of Moscow).

On the other hand, Putin's Kremlin continues multi-weapons shipments to the most vicious anti-American dictatorships, from Iran to Venezuela, clearly & alarmingly reminiscent of the 'old days' when the Russians used pro-Soviet proxies to fight their wars against America & her allies, as well as Israel's Arab enemies, including KGB 'assistance' to various top level Arab terrorists as in the PLO & other groups of killers.

Dictator Putin's latest duel stunts directed at Washington & NATO are war games with Red Chinese forces plus announcing to the world during the war games that Russian long range bombers topically armed with nuclear weapons will immediately resume around-the-clock international flights. When those bomber missions were stopped some 15 years ago the reason was the Russians ran out of dough to keep their strategic bombers in the air, now since the Putin régime is rolling in wealth due to very profitable oil & natural gas exports, Putin is letting us know Cold War II is on with a vengeance and could escalate to a hot war rapidly if the Russian tyrant is not appeased.

Some leadership from Washington would be nice relating to Putin's collection of mounting threats.

Putin denial of atrocities to be expected"

Americans have more than a few blotches of shame in our history. Our treatment of African-American slaves and of native Americans, for example, are episodes that make nearly all of us heartsick, though neither we nor our immediate ancestors had anything to do with them.

But Americans admit the stains on our history. How else, we think, to guard against similar horrors in the future? That cannot be said for those in some other nations — or even for their leaders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked recently to discuss the slaughter of millions of people by the regime of the late Josef Stalin. The occasion was the dedication of a memorial to about 700,000 people executed at one site by Stalin’s secret police.

Russians should not feel guilty about the Stalinist slaughters because, “in other countries, even worse things happened,” Putin said. Among those “even worse things” was the U.S. decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan to end World War II, he suggested.

It was to be expected that Putin, himself a KGB veteran, would defend the Stalinist regime to some extent. But to compare its atrocities to use of atomic bombs to end a war goes too far.

Perhaps critics of Putin, who say that he wishes for a return to a totalitarian regime, are right.

Each nation on earth has its way of living or thinking and Russia is by far a nation of paranoids without a doubt.

That is what is bothering me.

He has us almost circled with russian weapons, in the hands of insane people.

As my memory goes, Putin is playing the same script, they used before.

They only bought 30 of them. They are either using them for target practice, or OPFOR.

30 Tanks isn’t even a Battalion.

True enough. The M-60’s thermal sight is actually better than that on the M1/M1IP/M1A1 tank. It is absolutely devastating in a defensive role...as many of us M1A1 crews discovered during force on force exercises against them.

Regards,

I fully agree. The very enemies we are combating in Iraq and Afghanistan, Putin's Russia is supplying weapons to through Iran and Syria.

Each time the oil market panic due to threats to Middle Eastern supplies, Russia and their OPEC proxies earn billions. Vast amounts of oil profits Iran continues fuelling their version of Shi'ite Jihad through their trained pro-Iranian terrorist in Hezballah, Hamas plus Iraq's Shi'ite terrorists.

Everything Putin is doing in terms of his military clearly indicates a future war is being organized on a global level.

You are correct, KGB Putin is in effect encircling us whether it be enemies on our southern flank, Russian nuclear armed subs and now the round-the-clock resumption of Russian bombers. The Baltic state, Poland and other nations formerly behind the Iron Curtain are nervous about the future and if they are attacked will NATO assist them in combating the Russian invaders.

Putin latest brazen act of typical communist media control is the banning of the BBC.

BBC Removed From FM Radio In Russia

Which 'un-Russian' media will be banned next?

The Russians have also been controlled by one brutal dictator or another, and most love the current tyrant and show it.

We are viewing another Hitler. Do we wait until this beast attacks, or act first, as we should have against Hitler in 1938 and did not?

I fear that with the likes of Kennedy, Pelosi, Murtha and the the other 50 or so Congress members of the communists, that we will wait for the big attack and they will surrender.

There is no way that you will convince the left to attack the communists.

Our future is in danger.

You are right, communists will not attack communists (unless they are bumping each other off in a coup :).

Watch for Putin to become ever so bold in the coming weeks and months - as the West sleeps. This is so dangerous.

Why buy an expensive system which is in service with a handful of countries, none of which are opposed to the South Koreans??The older T-55/72 would have been a better bet if exercises were the only bet.All that being said, the South Koreans brought these as part of Russia’s repayment of loans & there are have been rumours of additional batches. The autoloader tech from the T-80 has reportedly found it’s way into the new South Korean XK-2 tank.
