Hey Mel, what are you polling at in Florida? About 33%

You are a one termer. It’s not totally your fault, your patron promoted you way over your head. He does that with people he likes.

“Sen. Mel Martinez, the head of the Republican National Committee”

A major problem for the Pubbies.....with a JERK like that in charge of the RNC. Bush appointed this guy without any thought of what it would do to the Pubbies.

"I don't want to in any way intervene in the primary process," Martinez said.

Then don't, fool! Simply keep your mouth shut.

"I don't want to in any way intervene in the primary process," Martinez said. "But at the same time, I have an obligation as a senator to speak about the issues..."

Okay then, Mr. Martinez, it's time to decide which position you want and to give up the other one.

As soon as I saw the vague headline, I knew what he was "chiding" the candidates about.

What does that say about Martinez' priorities?

It would seem he's more interested in rewarding illegal behavior than in the success of the party or the nation.

Mel Martinez was “handpicked” by Presidente Bush to be the General Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Mike Duncan is the RNC Chairman.

THis is just a liberal rag trying to get Republicans fighting each other.

Sure, Mel is a dork and is out of touch with his own constiuency, but he doesn’t “chide” or “take a swipe at” as the article claims. THE PAPER claims he said Roody and Mitt “mischaracterized” the immigrant bill but what were their actual words? Don’t trust this rag.

We’re going to be seeing more and more of these types of articles trying to fracture Republican and independent support for those on the right.

“He also urged audience members to pin down the Republican candidates on immigration when they come to St. Petersburg for the YouTube/CNN Republican presidential debate Nov. 28... “

This is the only remark on the subject of immigration that Mel has made that I agree with.

The RNC passed a resolution calling on Republican candidates to embrace enforcement of our Immigration laws. The Republicans blocked the Amnesty plan and I had written them a $1000.00 check to mail off today... then I read this story this morning and tore the check up. I also wrote Mike Duncan a letter explaining this and suggested that perhaps they could get illegal invaders to donate funds to them... and I also told him that they must get rid of Mel if they want any $$$$$$$$$ from me again... EVER!

The Washington Times ^ | 8-16-07 | Stephan Dinan
The Republican Party's national chairman scolded his party's two top presidential candidates this week for their tough stance on illegal immigration, even as both men moved to try to one-up each other in calling for stricter enforcement. Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida, President Bush's handpicked choice for party chairman, chided former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for opposing and mischaracterizing the Senate immigration bill Mr. Martinez helped craft. "It's about leading on the tough issues," Mr. Martinez told the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce in comments first reported in yesterday's St. Petersburg...
