New York Activists Say Giuliani Has Retreated on Gay Issues
Washington Post ^ | 19 August 2007 | By Jose Antonio Vargas

Frustrated by what he regards as the shifting stance of Republican presidential candidate Rudolph W. Giuliani on gay rights, Ryan Davis logged on to MySpace, gathered a few of his friends and grabbed a video camera. Together, they created a minute-long YouTube video aimed at hurting the former New York mayor with social conservatives in early primary states.

"Gays for Giuliani," it's called.

"I couldn't think of a more ironic title," said Davis, a 25-year-old gay writer and director, sitting in his cramped Hell's Kitchen apartment, showing off what he calls his masterpiece. With the theme music of "The West Wing" in the background, the video shows gay New Yorkers saying things such as: "I would be hard-pressed to think of any conservative politician who embraces the gay community like Giuliani does."

"When he was our mayor, Giuliani was pro-gay rights," said Davis, who describes himself as a libertarian Democrat who supported Howard Dean for president in 2004 and Republican John McCain in 2000. "Now that he's running for president, Giuliani has abandoned us. I wanted to remind voters, especially conservative voters, who Giuliani was."

Politics come first as in supporting Democrats and even if Rudy were the Republican nominee, these knee-jerk left wing “gays” would be kissing up to the Dems.

This story is probably part of the Hillary campaign effort to cut off Rudy from gay support that might come to him.

Hillary uses the tactics of Saul Alinsky which are among other things to cut off support bases for your opponents.

Rudy lived with homosexuals and dressed up in drag. He is their friend and Hillary’s smear machine knows this.

Of all the GOP candidates I’m sure that based on the polling data that drives the Clinton campaign effort Rudy is the greatest threat right now.

If Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson were a threat, they’d get smeared over some issues to cut off support.

The best way to take out Rudy early is to discredit him with the conservative GOP voters so he isn’t the nominee and able to draw liberal New York support away from Hillary in November.

Rudy looks pretty comfortable in drag if you ask me.

How 'bout you Sean Hannity, ya think Rudy looks comfy?

I keep wondering how many times you dress in drag, trying hard to look pretty, before it's a fetish, not just a joke.

Once or twice, okay, maybe a joke. But Julie did it many times. And if it's a joke, you don't try to look glamorous and pretty. Look at SNL sketches. Drag is only funny when it's bad drag.

The way I see it, the 2 main life threatening important issues we face today are the quiet attempts of the cancerous Islamic take over of the world and immigration. HOW DOES GAY RIGHTS GET INTO THE PRESIDENCIAL DEBATES? A NON ISSUE! WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE FIRST 2, NOTHING ELSE WILL EXIST! The libs are once again muddying the waters allowing everyone one and everything enter the areana and be as important as the most important

"Sheesh. My stupid advisors told me I didn't need those dumb,
pro-family Christian conservatives to make a primary showing."

Man, they're killing me on FR just b/c I had three wives, several mistresses,
was honored by NARAL, donated to Planned Parenthood, marched
for gay rights under the NAMBLA banner, and appointed
gays and pedophiles to top city jobs."

"Let's go to Plan B: pay off the gay brigades to shut up, until I get into office."
