Janks Morton was contentedly selling medical supplies when he ran across the statistic that 70% of black children today are born out of wedlock; looking further, he discovered the blacks now have the lowest marriage rate and highest divorce rate in the country. Taking some of his own money he set out to interview blacks around the country to find why these were the facts when "we weren't that way a generation ago". The resulting documentary ("What Black Men Think") contains some fascinatng commments from many men and women on the street as well as some well known names such as Shelby Steele, Juan Willaims, and John McWhorter (but not Jesse Jackson or the president of the NAACp, who wouldn't participate). Among Morton's conclusions are that popularly-accepted black leaders play on raw anger to line their own pockets rather than to help their own people and that blacks should stop looking to "Him" - specific politicians and big government - for help and rely more on their own capabilities. "Are there more black men in prison or in college?" You can tune in to the rebroadcast at 11 PM or 6 AM (EDT) to find out.

I believe the Republican message of personal responsibility and self-reliance is the best approach for the black community. But we've done a terrible job of "selling" it. We should have started really pushing this 20-25 years ago. We should approach illegal immigration as a pro-black issue. We should be better positioned than we are.
I watched this for a while. I found the sample of the beginning of his movie (where he was in sunglasses, fading in and out) hard to get excited about.
“Blacks” are a majority in the world and of the 190 countries, I would guess run over 100.
Each is an armpit, each is tribal and each is a failure asking the “white” minority run countries to fix them.
Just ask Bono.
Uh, ok. So if conservatives don’t have “the answers” then just what is “the answer” then? From my own experiences, the successful ones have adopted conservative principles. You know, self-reliance, personal responsibility, a work ethic, and a can-do attitude.
Seems to work every time with everybody else. Don’t know why it can’t apply here.
Yet Blacks have spent over fifty years studiously avoiding conservative behavior and scorning conservative values. Look what it has gotten them. How much longer do they deny the obvious?
I did some research while watching the Little League world series and found some very astute thinking on the part of blacks: only 2% of the residents of Coon Rapids, MN, are black. Sometimes, it’s just smarter to live somewhere else.
IMHO
Inner City blacks are hopeless
They lament the crime etc etc and keep voting for the democrats
Culture is a full blown mess and black woman keep having kids out of wedlock
They couldn’t find decent husbands even if they wanted to
And the stupid WOD just makes things worse
I'm going to assume that you really meant to say something like: "Yet too many Blacks ..." or "Yet some Blacks ...".
Since there are clearly Black Conservatives that many FR members admire and regularly post articles they have written, on FR.
Yet are we not informed by the wise men of society that the Blacks you mention are not black at all, being merely black on the outside, but white on the inside? And certainly not down for the struggle, per the Rev Sharpton.
I note even you qualify Black with Conservative when you wish to make a distinction from the great majority of the Blacks who drink the Social/Marxist Kool-aide. You have a point, just the same, and I shall try to remember in the future to be more precise when I speak of Blacks who drink the Kool-aide, as opposed to such remarkable characters as Thomas, Steele, Sowell, and Williams.
Thanks for the support.
That would, of course, be Dr. Walter Williams. Not the other one (Juan) who drinks the Kool-aide
yes we do. it’s called enough with the public schools and encourage evryone to send their kids to religious private schools
FRiend, I don’t, and didn’t, disagree with your original posting, other than a gentle chide about unintentionally painting with too wide a brush.
Understood. No offense taken and none meant.
Republicans were the party of Lincoln.
Johnson’s Great Society changed this.
Created a class of full time victims.
