For a lot of these people (check the Comments link in #1), any commercial success by people other than themselves is prima facie evidence that said successful person/group has Sold Out to THE MAN, and is deserving of the worst treatment imaginable. It's envy disguised as righteousness, and it's as old as the Cain & Abel story.
