But most modern Muslims also believe that someone else surreptitiously took Jesus' place on the cross while Jesus went up into heaven.

But how this fits into a discussion on Islam, I don't know, because I think most contemporary Muslims would contend that the Bible has been corrupted and isn't a valid source.

I think that this story is a bit odd. Reading between the lines, it looks like ITV is making a documentary about what Muslims believe about Jesus in their faith. How is this different to a documentary about what Sikhs or Hindus believe?

British TV has lots of Christian programming (as it should do). E.g: Songs of Praise.

This sounds just like a look into the tenets of the Muslim faith.

It's a perfectly reasonable topic for a show.

The real issue, though, is what the response would be to a corresponding show that focused on "how Christians believe that Mo was a pedophilic fraud."

Just another way of trashing Jesus, by associating him with head-choppers and neck slicers. If I remember right, He healed the sick and told adulterers to go and sin no more. He didn’t chop heads off and stone adulterers.
