I’m a Christian Conservative and would vote for a Mormon before I voted for a pro-gay, pro-gun control, pro-abortion, Republican candidate.
And yes, I’m VERY well acquainted with the Mormon faith.

I would not vote for Romney for deacon or elder in my church, but he is not running for either office, but rather for the Presidency. My issue is not with the sincerity of his Mormon faith, but rather with the sincerity of his conversion to political conservatism and his commitment to running the country with the goals of lessening Federal power and reducing regulation and taxation consistent with that goal. America does not need another “compassionate conservative” or a “big government conservative”.
In many Evangelical Christian denominations, Mormonism is considered a cult, and a Satanic cult to boot.
It is very far out of the mainstream of American religious beliefs. I don’t know how that could be overcome.
