Most Republicans (including myself) would have NO problem voting for a Jew, even though he or she rejects my Christian belief of redemption and salvation.
Yet those same people are going loopy over Romney's Mormon beliefs, even though the tenants of his religion are approx. 80-percent in common with mainstream Christianity.
It just don't make sense.
Romney said in one of the debates: “Jesus Christ is my Savior” but for some reason that’s not good enough for the anti Mormons. Their Jesus is different from mine and Romney’s. Their Jesus died for them but not for Romney and me.
You’re right; “it just don’t make sense.”
MW,
Some unspoken assumptions in your post...
“Most Republicans (including myself) would have NO problem voting for a Jew, even though he or she rejects my Christian belief of redemption and salvation.”
The Jewish faith forms a foundation that gave Christianity
the Savior, who was Jewish. We share the Hebrew Scriptures
in common.
“Yet those same people are going loopy over Romney’s Mormon beliefs, even though the tenants of his religion are approx. 80-percent in common with mainstream Christianity.”
Mormonism has nothing in common with Biblical Christianity
except the name Jesus Christ - and by that, mormonism means
a person very different than the on in the Bible. It is worth
noting though, that Joseph Smith copied large portions of
scripture to “legitimize” his writings and make them sound
true.
As such, mormonism is the antithesis of Christianity.
Christianity=Monotheism=One God
Mormonism=Polytheism=Many gods
