Press Releases Contact: Brendan Daly/Nadeam Elshami 202-226-7616 For Immediate Release 08/21/2007 Pelosi: 'Once Again, President Is Trying to Throw America's Children Off Health Insurance Rolls'
Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today opposing the new conditions the Bush Administration has imposed on the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which will make it more difficult for states to extend health coverage to children in middle-income families:
"While Republicans always talk about the importance of state flexibility and letting states make decisions, their actions are quite the opposite. Once again, President Bush is trying to throw America's children off our nation's health insurance rolls.
"SCHIP has provided millions of children with quality health insurance, and has earned broad bipartisan support. Yet now the Bush Administration is imposing restrictions that will cause more children to be uninsured.
"In Congress, we are working to do the opposite - to expand health insurance for America's children and ensure they have the opportunity for a bright future. We encourage the President to join us in these efforts."

Buy insurance for your own children!
I do and I am no where near middle class in income BUT I know that my child is my responsibility.

While Republicans always talk about the importance of state flexibility and letting states make decisions, their actions are quite the opposite. The decision belongs to the state and so does the responsibility to fund that decision if it goes beyond the Federal system.

If you apply for 'benefits' you get unannounced visits and if you have luxury items they get taken and sold to supplement your costs!
Hey, you chose to live off the state so they get to say what you can have!

No, Piglousy, States can pay for anyone they wish. They just can’t force Federal taxpayers to pay for your votes from the lazy slugs that voted for you.
Let the people that voted for you pay to their hearts content.

This woman (pelosi) wants to throw our nation’s children to the wolves (muslims and illegals) and she has the gall to speak. I bet she (pelosi) believes throwing America’s children to the wolves (muslims and illegals) is what should should be done for the ‘children’. pelosi is a vile, wicked woman.

Excuse me Ms Pelosi—
Just what does the term “State” in SCHIP stand for?
Is there any difference(s) between the terms state, and federal? If so, are you aware of such?
