Moreover, when Thompson filed his disclosure form with the IRS, he revealed that $72,000 of the $3.4 million raised is to be used for the general election. Former FEC General Counsel, Larry Noble told the Washington Post "I think it's problematic. Clearly it's a red flag."

If you can't keep your nose clean at this stage how can we trust the guy. I will not vote for anyone that is not above board and honest.
I'm voting for Mitt!
Hellllooooo, Romneybot!
Oh and Mitt? Yeah, he can’t keep his mitts off our guns. Was MORE than happy to sign gun bans into law.
Without the Second Amendment, the rest mean NOTHING.
When ABC talks, robots listen! :D
That’s a little disparaging of robots, doncha think? ;’}
First it’s only an allegation, seconf since when do you believe everything coming out of ABC?
Some of you Romney people disgust me. Rather than building up your candidate you print, publish and highlight the negatives of your opposition and treat evey left wing report as gospel.
I would vote for Romney as a second choice but frankly if his campaign is orchestrating this crap I believe I’ll pass.
you’re lds
and you joined
fr
to promote
mitt.
Naw, Robots for Choice for Mitt have already sent me a pamphlet and asked how much I want to donate. ;)
Hit piece. Next......
You see something on a blog with an “insider’s opinion” about $72,000 in campaign funds and then you, from this information on the BLOG, conclude you cannot vote for Thompson but must vote for Romney?
WOW. You select a candidate in so rash and illogical a manner. You are not helping Romney.
I don’t think Fred is all that smart but I don’t think he’s all that dumb, either. The guy is a lawyer for goodness’sake. I’m sure he wouldn’t make such a stupid mistake . . . or would he?
DISHONEST POST, click the link. The first sentence of the article says that a “liberal activist” filed an FEC complaint. What else are you hiding?
Another lame hit piece against Fred....yawn...
Ok, two digit, how did you ever learn to sign on here!
Worse than listening to ABC darkwolf, the poster of this article skipped the first sentence on the abc blog. It states that a “liberal activist” filed the FEC complaint. The ABC blogger was honest, but not this poster in characterizing what was conveyed.
The Mod will be here shortly to fix your title.
Even someone so new to FR should understand the nuances and newspeak in this article.
For myself, I’ll have to think hard and long about the earthquake that will result from Moma spinning in her grave in North Texas if I vote for a man who identifies with a religion that holds that the only way for a wife to get out of hell is for her husband to use a secret name to call her “through the veil.”
No thread would be complete without a comment from S A U N D R A
My problem with Romney isn’t his religion, it’s his record.
You are formally declared, if someone has not already beaten me to the punch, an idiot.
Did you ride around on a bicycle wearing a short sleeved, button up shirt and tie with a buddy dressed the same?
And your are an expert on FEC laws?
It's interesting how scared both liberals and certain "conservatives" are of Thompson.
Thompson is far from perfect (which seems to be the standard for people who have already chosen candidates to back, candidates who are equally far from perfect), but he is superior where it matters to the American voter--he doesn't seem to have an ax to grind, he doesn't come off as some fire-breather from the fringes, and he comes across as an honest MAN, not some wuss who secretly loathes women and tries to appease them with silly talk about "emotional" issues.
Thompson comes across as an intelligent man who understands that we can't walk away from Iraq, we can't live in a dreamworld where (considering demographics and the last election) we don't bother trying to appeal beyond our own back yard, and we can't just push gussied-up liberal programs (like Hillarycare, hello, Gov. Romney) and move our party to the left.
It's a hard balancing act for the other candidates, but this is where Thompson has always been. Forget compassionate conservatism, he strikes me as a genuine conservative, and not one of the religious conservatives who don't seem to grasp that there IS a difference.
You gotta be joking or dumber than a pile of dirty socks. A liberal BLOGGER is filing a campaign complaint against Fred. A BLOGGER!
If you can't keep your nose clean at this stage how can we trust the guy. I will not vote for anyone that is not above board and honest.
Fred's specialty is investigating corruption. Now tell me you didn't know that Fred doesn't know campaign finance laws, when he (naively) co-sponsored a bill to try and curb it & went after the Clintons for breaking the laws as well.
Yes, the cat has his tongue.
Who says “Mitt” is honest?
Who says “Mitt” is honest?
Who says “Mitt” is honest?
I’d say its you that is off to a bad start.
I hope you don’t get suspended ForEternity.
HUH?
That is such a sad picture...
You never heard Moma talk about Joseph Smith and his penchant for multiple wives.
Seriously, the flipflops on life, social, and fiscal consevativism should make anyone nervous about Romney’s newly-conservative positions.
I hope and pray that he’s genuine. But I look at Mass.’s State health insurance with concern.
The FEC ruled that Robertson had violated the "testing the waters" rules in 1988, fining him $25,000.
All you Fred bots are attacking me but can't defend the actions of your man.
I don't care who filed the complaint, it's still going to be investigated. IT...IS...SLEAZY
Any Republican who stakes his decision on an article by Jake Tapper is suspect in my opinion.
I do recall a whole bunch of folks bowing at the CBS alter when a CBS genius ran a hit piece on Romney and the Olympics.
Pure ethics in journalism when it is against Romney.
Now that said, this is certainly a stupid article from ABC and the party who posted it should have recognized it as that. But geez, how many posts now attacking the guy?
That’s how the Mormons treat all those wives: Wives get to heaven if their husbands remember to use their secret name. I’ve never read any other way for any woman to get into heaven and/or become a god, except by a secret name and the will of a man, rather than by the Grace of God and the self-sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Hows that lds these days?
I also saw Fred’s appeal to what is generally a left-leaning or apathetic/cynical audience: the Jay Leno show folks. It is one barometer of what resonates with a segment of the public — not an exclusive measure.
His responses about Iran and nuclear war and other real issues drew applause, some of it immediate and intense when he finished his responses. This suprised me given what I know about the majority of the audience members. Yes, I know there is an applause button beneath the stage. But I also think the audience perceived that he was a serious man, has considered what we face, and is not a rash or inexperienced hand at dealing with the real issues.
I also notice the “attacks” on him are rather pusilanimous: his wife dresses inappropriately, he looks old, he was a lobbyist, etc.
This post is a good example because on the slightest analysis (actually just reading the first sentence of the linked blog) these attacks wither.
ForEternity, come back with something real that is supported by your source material. Make my reading your posts about Romney worth my time.
I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE MY TIME READING INACCURATELY CHARACTERIZED — EVEN MISSTATED POSTS AND SOURCES.
Mitt just needs to be honest, and if that honesty causes him to lose, oh well.
And that correlates to Fred, how?
All you Fred bots are attacking me but can't defend the actions of your man.
Plenty of posters on this thread have already pointed out to you that some stupid liberal activist has an axe to grind. Wake me up when the government does an investigation on its own.
I don't care who filed the complaint
I do. The Left hates Fred and conservatives, and will throw their feces at the wall to see if it sticks.
it's still going to be investigated. IT...IS...SLEAZY
Wrong. This ain't going nowhere, bub. The only thing sleazy is the blogger, you, and your flip-flopping RINO Oven Mitt Romney.
LOL. What a drama queen.
“Sleaze” is parial posting a hit piece based on bogus charges. I could say that you are a misogynist, a believer in myths that demean women and misrepresent the Creator and His new creation in Jesus Christ. J’accuse!
You are delusional. It’s just an allegation by a professed lib. You don’t think that it is going to take more that $3.4 million to get past the primary you do not have a clue. I am not a Fred bot but this is nothing more than cheap shot time for many candidates. How much does McCain have put away for the general?
