Folks, this story opens an enormous can of worms which is going to be very bad for conservatives in the Southeast. Gonzalez and his firm, based at his address, have all kinds of connections to GOP conservatives around the country. It has satellite offices in Atlanta and Nevada. Gonzalez and his partner (not one of the three) were close associates of Ralph Reed in Georgia. They worked against former Senator Cleland. They were involved in the Florida recount in 2000! (Gonzalez’s partner ran the FL GOP at the time). They worked for Schundler in New Jersey.
Abrami, who is clearly the YR who ran into trouble for using a Clinton photo as a target 15 years ago was involved with Douglas Goetzlow(sp.?) the key player in one of the largest bribery scandals in Central Florida history.
The third guy, Mark Drake, has a more common name and is harder to track.
The circumstances make it almost certain that this is a gay triangle. This is going to be a big mess, unless we are very lucky. It is possible that one or more of these folks could be Freepers!

Thanks for the research and additional info.

“Man must leave Guetzloe alone
Orange Circuit Judge Walter Komanski has ordered Thomas Paul Nevins, a former Bally Entertainment Corp. casino petition coordinator from Miami, to stay away from Orlando publicist Douglas M. Guetzloe and his family. Komanski also ordered Nevins to stay away from Guetzloes former employee, David Abrami, in both cases until the March 4 jury trial involving Guetzloes firm, Advantage Consultants Inc., and Florida Locally Approved Gaming Inc. is complete.
Guetzloe sought the Dec. 17, 1996, order after Nevins allegedly threatened Abrami, according to Guetzloes filing.”
Hmm, maybe the correct question should be”Where was Doug Guetzloe when this went down?”.

“Gay love triangle?”
That seems to be the consensus around Central Florida this morning.

I knew David Abrami in high school and at UCF until 1992. He was passionate in his politicals and true to his friends. I am just sick that this happened to such a patriot as David. I had not heard from him since 1992 when I graduated UCF, but I always figured he would make the national scene with the Republican party one of these days. This is not the way I expected that to happen.

Not sure what that means... I just found this site today by searching on David’s name. I was trying to find out what happened, after I received an alert through the alumni association. This site seemed like something I might want to join, and this seemed like a great time to do it, since I also wanted to leave a note about who David was.

The guy’s post didn’t seem to be a troll, he posted on topic, and not a flame or anything.

Free Republic has a deranged person who repeatedly signs up and claims to be a relative, friend or associate of the subject of an article about a murder or unfortunate demise.

Welcome to FR.
Sorry to hear about your friend.
Pardon our caution, as other’s have mentioned, we have had a number of frauds sign up claiming to be friends or family of a deceased person.

Why would this be a big mess?

As a good friend of David’s girlfriend I find it disturbing that someone would assume there was a “lover’s fight” simply because they read it somewhere. Since he was moving to NC to be with her I find it odd that he would put any effort into a homosexual lovers quarrel. I understand and support freedom of speech but I also understand that it is extremely painful for a loved one to read vicious lies and rumors about someone who can no longer defend himself. It’s not a joke and it’s not a soap opera. It’s just a tragedy. I am not pretending to be David’s friend...only a friend of a friend...but I have heard enough about him and his relationship with my friend to know that he is most definitely hetero.

The possible connections, gay love triangle, massive bribery scandal, ‘hanging chads’, Jeb Bush, Ralph Reed, triple homicide, etc., etc. could make Mark Foley seem a paragon of virtue. Or were you being sarcastic?
To: tracymiller
Well this makes two newbies on one thread, kind of makes one nervous. However, welcome to Free Republic, sorry about your acquaintance. Also this is the first denial I have seen about the possible ‘gay’ connection, that is a minor comfort.
Don’t know if you are a conservative, libertarian, or Republican, go to the homepage to see what we are about.

Most people just jump to conclusions too quickly. As I said I wasn't a close friend of David's...only a friend of a friend but this is just a news story to most people. Comedic material for others. It's a nightmare for his girlfriend and family and it's not going to fade from their memory in a week or two. Who knows..maybe there was a love triangle..maybe it involved another woman..maybe it involved another man....maybe it was political..maybe it was just someone who snapped...but whatever it was I think we should take everything we read with a grain of salt.

If they couldn’t figure out a simple ballot, they couldn’t dial a phone? :-) (okay, so it wasn’t in Orlando, but it was Florida!)
