He’s a speechwriter for chrissakes. That’s like saying you won’t support Fred if he hires the same White House Cook that Bush did.

It is much worse than you think.

I hear from very reliable sources that over 95 percent of his entire staff voted for George Bush in 2004!

I just don’t see how a REPUBLICAN candidate can have such people on his staff and even think he could be successful in a REPUBLICAN contest...

Yes, it would be horrific if Fred made statements like “axis of evil” re: Iran, NK and I guess maybe Syria would now take Iraq’s spot.

Nevermind it was when Bush spoke like that he was well received by everyone except the peacenik crowd across the globe. well, them and the “evil” referenced.

Doesn’t mean Fred’s positions are the same as Bush’s. I think conservative’s are still waiting to be assured he’s further to the right then Bush. McCain, Rudy and ROMNEY certainly are not. But a speech writer doesn’t set policy. Usually.

All this move suggests is that his speeches will probably be less docile in tone, the substance would be determined by Fred and whomever he intends to be his COS if he won.

Okay, okay. I am just so soured on Bush these days. Anyone close to him is suspect.

Well actually I can understand that, but the Republican talent pool is a mixed bag anyways, so we need to keep quality folks around even if we don’t see 100% eye to eye.

Also be mindful that just because they worked for Bush does not mean they have his idiosyncrasies, they could be with him for the same reason they are now with Fred, they are Republicans.

I want to know what Fred Thompson thinks, not Matt Scully.

Fred sure could have used a speech writer at his appearance at the VFW convention on Tuesday. I caught about 3 minutes of his speech today. He rambled and seemed very tired. His energy level was extremely low—a real snoozer.

Not only that, but have you seen the latest poll? Fred Thompson gets 22%, which means that 78% of Republicans are AGAINST FRED THOMPSON! With numbers like these, he can’t possibly win! I’m sticking with Mitt Romney. He has more hair.

You have to remember who it is who you’re talking to. When has Paperdoll ever said anything nice about Fred? Never.

Maybe I should have put in instead of nice, truthful or fair ...

You should take a look at this. Fred gets kudos for the blog piece on NYC and Guiliani’s response or nonresponse.

Paperdoll believes in guerrilla tactics on FR. She will jump on a thread to attack a candidate who is anybody but Duncan Hunter then when confronted with simple questions about the chances DH has she runs away. It is frankly a pretty cowardly way of handling herself.

I’m glad to see Mary Matalin on the team. Now, if he could lasso Newt Gingrich and Karl Rove.

Many of Bush’s people started out as Congressional aides and advisors. How many would we find with a background from Rep. Hunter’s office?

So did the overwhelming majority of those Freepers whose posts state they are now completely disillusioned with him and who can't wait for him to be gone.

For some curious reason many folks here don't seem to admit the possibility that some of those who have served the Bush Administration might be equally disillusioned and eager to find a new candidate who won't disappoint them.
