Arellano is no master propagandist. She is a puppet whose strings are being pulled by her invisible masters behind the curtain. This could not be more obvious once you listen to her talk. There is no way that this cleaning lady is the author of the speeches she has been giving.

Her traveling companion, Emma Lozano, has been a longtime activist.

Bannerman Fellowship Program: 2002 Fellows

EMMA LOZANO
Chicago, IL

Emma Lozano got her start in organizing in the 1970s with Chicago's independent Latino political movement. She founded Centro Sin Fronteras in 1987 to defend the rights of undocumented Mexican immigrants. At the same time, Pueblo Sin Fronteras began organizing neighborhood residents, using hunger strikes and demonstrations to win construction of the city's first community-based bilingual school. Ever since, Sin Fronteras has played a leading role on issues ranging from school reform to legalization of the undocumented to getting the U.S. Navy out of the Vieques, Puerto Rico.

On the morning of June 8, 1983, Rudy Lozano, chief Midwest field organizer of the old International Ladies Garment Workers Union, was murdered in cold blood in his house in the Little Village neighborhood on Chicago's southwest side. The forces behind his killing have never been conclusively identified.

It was Rudy, more than anyone else, who united Chicago's Mexican and Puerto Rican communities behind the campaign to elect Harold Washington mayor of Chicago in 1983.

Furthermore, Rudy was doing pioneering work in the effort to bring union recognition and justice on the job to immigrant workers, including the undocumented. He was an effective organizer of low-paid workers in the city's tortilla factories, among other places.

snip

Last year, Sin Fronteras, an organization in Chicago headed by Rudy's sister Emma Lozano and modeled on his example, turned in 12,000 "Reward Work" cards in the campaign for immigrant legalization coordinated by the Service Employees International Union. This year, Sin Fronteras and any number of other organizations, churches and unions are working even harder to support the "Freedom Ride" for immigrant rights that has been initiated by the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union.

Hi cousin,
Whether it catches on or not depends on YOU. Hopefully we will all start to hold people’s feet to the fire, so to speak, and get this situation under control. I can’t overemphasize that it is up to US, citizens of the USA, because the government won’t do this for us. They may follow our lead.

AND any citizen who attends a church offering or giving sanctuary should leave in protest. If it were me, I would raise HELL in church (sorry for the analogy) before leaving.

Hey Cal,
Can you quote chapter and verse on it being illegal to burn other countries’ flags? I want to a) be convinced, and b) know what penalty I will face.

This is an excerpt. There is more article at the link. : ).

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to fire off a rant about how poorly written it was...making claims and then not providing supporting details! :-)

We should all be asking the question, “Do you employ any non-citizens here?” wherever we consider doing business.

So you are against those who come to this country legally under a work visa? I think you should rephrase to ask whether there's anyone working there illegally, or something similar.

Oops...now I see that Barb4Bush wrote a similar response, but I'm gonna post this anyway since the others weren't pinged.

My opinion--you are wrong. Separation of church and state does not give churches the right to flaunt the law. If they care to follow their higher law--the Bible says to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Rhe law is Caesar's and when they go against it, they may expect the govt. to react accordingly.

I do understand sanctuary, but in this case it is much misused. Imagine if churches tried to take in 12,000,000 illegals for sanctuary.

Just what makes you think a liberal is as smart as most ten-year olds?

I'm convinced that most liberals are stuck at the intellectual level of a 7 or 8 yr old.

Talk to any young child about how the world should work...everything should be free, there shouldn't be any war or fighting - that's bad. If you're doing something and someone else doesn't like it, you should be made to stop. It's not fair that Jimmy down the street has a better bike than you. It's just a given that "Mom" tells you what to eat, what to wear, when to go to bed - Substitute "Nanny" for Mom, and it sounds like a lib's view of the world to me!

There is no “chapter and verse” I’ve found. I’ve been looking for a while.

Folks have been arrested after burning mexican flags, but they are charged with things like reckless endangerment and arson.

If people burn our flag, it is overlooked as part of a political protest, and exercising First Amendment rights.

Any church that offers sanctuary for illegals should have its tax exemption revoked, pronto.

If the 'church' meaning the leadership of the denomination, yes. But if it is a rogue minister/priest/whatever, then that individual should be defrocked by the church and arrested by the feds.

Agreed. And that scumbag "Cardinal" out in L.A. no doubt has had a hand in this.

Hahahaha, "Hollywood Mo"? Naaaah, not him. He just flouts the immigration laws here in California ;-)

It would be nice if he was defrocked, before he retires. We'd all pop a bottle of bubbly!

we are allowed to burn OUR flag in this country, but not anyone elses.

I don't know who told you that, but it's not the least bit true.
