I wish Irey had been able to mount a formidable challenge to this crochety old coot. Unfortunatley, it seems he has bought his district with all that pork he brings home, thus denying the people of Pennsy a much needed breath of fresh air.
I sure miss her smiling face.

Its the same with Leahy here in Vermont. But there will soon be a showdown between him and Republican governor Douglas. I hope Douglas runs for Leahy's seat, when he steps down as governor of Vermont.

It’s more than that. Here in PA the Republican party administration is largely country-club suburban folks who look with disdain on the conservative base. The party essentially refused to provide Diana with the resources she could have used in an effort to beat Murtha. I suspect there are Republican party officials in that district who were happier with Murtha getting re-elected than they would have been to have someone like Irey take his place.
