the CNN link.. The story doesn’t even come close to what the man actually said or meant in context. Please actually watch it and listen to what the man actually said. Don’t just parrot far left BS. You have the tools to look at the whole truth.
The media spin is sad - MAJOR GOP DEFECTION, SUPPORT CONTINUES TO ERODE FOR PRES’ STRATEGY, WARNER SAYS BEGIN IRAQ WITHDRAWL, etc. They were just giddy and breathless as they played 10 second sound bites this afternoon on the “all news all the time” channels.
Sadly none in the opposition has done anything but snipe and call for Maliki to quit or be removed. They have no actual suggestions for helping move the political process forward in Iraq. At least Warner is trying to figure out a way to get people moving. Please list all the actions suggested by the Dem leadership to move the political process forward.
Warner “respectfully suggested” that the Pres announce a TOKEN drawdown of “say 5,000 troops (let the Pres pick any number)” by CHRISTMAS in order to demonstrate to the Iraq gov that we are serious about moving on and spur them to move more quickly on the political side.
Wow. What a “MAJOR GOP DEFECTION”.
Does that sound like the CNN headline “Warner: Iraq pullout should start in weeks” Yeah - like 16 weeks from now with a token show “say 5,000 troops” out of 170,000.
What a “pullout”.
You could also say from the same press conference that - upon his return from Iraq Senator Warner suggested that the surge is working and said “that the US military has the momentum in Iraq”.
You could also say that Warner supports keeping the military at full strength for at least 4 more months.
You could also say that Warner issued a stearn rebuke to those in congress who are trying to play Commander in Chief saying “let the Pres establish the timetable for withdrawl NOT the Congress.”
But we won’t see those headlines or sound bites from the unbiased media. I’m actually surprised CNN linked up most of the press conference. Better watch it quick - it won’t be there tomorrow.
Again - at least Warner is trying to think of ways to help move forward toward a stable government and stable security situation. And basically its not a bad idea.
