Since Bush 41's reelection loss to the Arkansas grifter, very few Republicans have come out in favor of raising taxes or more gun control.

Please, you think that it was worth it to have Clinton in the WH for 8 years with the possibility of his Marxist wife taking over in exchange for fewer Rs wanting to raise taxes. There aren't that many Rs who want to raise taxes anyway. I guess we can rationalize away anthing.

We are never going to advance our agenda as long as most of the players on our side say it has to either be all or nothing. They find virtue in losing.

[.. At this point I expect to hear them crying that the democrats stole the election when the GOP loses. ..]

You mean, when she whom should not be named wins in 2008?..

They left me.

+1

They left us! Not the other way around. I would stay with the GOP if they started acting like conservtives. In the last election I think the voters sent a pretty clear message...and still no takers. Until the GOP starts listening to us I will vote 3rd party.

No matter how many people love Fred-Giuliani still leads. As far as I'm concerned there is no lesser evil between Giuliani and Hillary-I will write in Ron Paul.

And you'll be proud of allowing Hillary to take over the WH?

Anyone who thinks Mrs. Clinton is the be all, end all of the '08 election has already conceded defeat...

You will be to blame if you push a liberal that has made a career of stabbing the Republican party voter base in the back.

I certainly have no problem with what you write about 3rd Parties.

That being said, however, I, personally, quit supporting the GOP with anything but votes 9 years ago. This decision wasn't made lightly, after spending 30 years supporting the Party and it's candidates with both money and volunteer time.

And this time around I see no reason to change.

Have already donated money to Fred Thompson and will actively support him or Duncan Hunter and donate even more money.

But these days it is quite liberating to do so as a citizen of The Republic, without party affiliation.

My only, and I stress only, concern is for "The Republic" and definitely not the Republicans.

For those who still have faith in the party - Bravo.

I think I am a bit to old and it will take way longer than I have left to live to ever have faith in the "Party" again!

God Bless you and yours and God Bless America!

Had you considered that ardent conservatives are most definitely a minority in this country? That the only way we can win is by creating a coalition? That your rhetoric scares the holy hell out of most of our potential coalition partners?

Withou assembling a winning coalition, most of whom will not be ardent conservatives, the only other way conservatives could come to power is through force.

The democrat party is mostly made up of cowards, traitors and queers bent on destroying our military and this country. Nothing hysterical about that fact.

Hey, 10 to 20% is a pretty respectable “fringe”.

Actually I was trying to make a funny comment there, my point is (not) that we should even form a third party — if we must then yes; but there is IMHO (and will increasingly be) a huge, growing and massively powerful backlash against the combined sellouts (yes, let’s call them what they are) of our once-mighty industrial base, our freedoms, our national identity and our resolve.

It’s not just FReepers who get that. In fact, it’s not just (current) Republicans who would be very good FReepers.

How was it, that Ronald Reagan was so great?

He was not exclusionary, even as he was resolute.

His perhaps greatest quality, was his sincere, and affable patriotism. It appealed deeply to blue-collar working Americans — the so called “Reagan Democrats”.

Those Reagan Democrats, are IMHO who Republicans should be actively, enthusiastically, daily, going after.

It’s not hard. Just wave the flag, and invite them in.

They’re what JFK in some ways represented. A former Democrat party, which was anti-communist, patriotic, went to church on Sunday, and grew up camping with the Boy Scouts.

Democrats are veering (wildly) to the left. Irresponsibly so. They’ve been taken over by fruitcakes.

It leaves a huge, very motivated swath of current “Democrats” there for the GOP to woo.

So let’s go after those voters.. For us, for them, but most importantly for America. Seriously.

For Apple Pie.

For all the Strong, Resolute, American patriots out there!

(fade out to view of Old Glory flying over the Whitehouse, as the Star Spangled Banner plays...)

So you think Hillary Clinton will be somehow better, or even as good?

Exactly how is Rudy different than Hillary?

Hillary’s positions and Rudy’s past governing are virtually identical.

Rudy has long been pro abortion.

Rudy is pro gun control, his anti-gun lawsuit is still working its way through the courts.

Rudy claims to have cut taxes in NYC, but under his administration the city budget went from $2 billion to over $8 billion.

Rudy is pro illegal aliens.

Rudy appointed liberal judges at an 8 to 1 tilt. He claims he had to choose from judges recommended to him, but that’s a lie. The commission recommending judges was created by a mayoral order. He could ignore their recommendations or even disband the commission at his pleasure. Rudy chose to appoint liberal judges.

Rudy now claims to be against his liberal positions, but when Rudy was in power he took the liberal position every time.

No Thanks Rudy! I’ll vote for Ayn Rand’s, ATLAS SHRUGGED character John Galt, before I’ll vote for Rudy.

I don’t think Hillary will win but I don’t think the GOP is destined for the white house next time out.

I’m not sure what great issue, equivalent in importance to independence or slavery, you think we should fight another civil war over.

A foreign invasion isn't good enough for you?

Vidkun Quisling did not talk compromise or accomodation. You’re confusing him with Chamberlain of Britain.

Quisling was the Benedict Arnold of Norway and he actively worked for the German conquest of his country.

Quisling was a traitor. Chamberlain was merely a well-intentioned fool.

For the most part, the activist base are sheep who bleat whenever the right buzzwords are given. The reality is that the politicians simply play them while lining their own pockets.

It really is all about power and money - ideology is just a marketing tool.

As for your tag line, in response to your well thought out and cogent argument...Not!

Stupidity isn't a Conservative ideal either. Although from the remaks by the better Hillary than Giuliani crowd around here you might be led to believe so.

I figure you're the type of self-righteous ****_head that will be the loudest whiner in the land when Hillary gets elected because people like yourself won't vote for Rudy...If he winds up being the nominee. Your type of whiner usually is.

So when was that reign of terror, anyway? Aside from the one of the French revolution. You know, the one where people were put to the guillotine in the thousands. The real reign of terror.

When did that democrat reign of terror you say we are living under begin? And why didn’t Bush end it?

Absolutely agree.

We seem to agree on the need to form a coalition. We aren't a majority, but we can convince a majority to support us.

But we can't do it by enforcing strict ideological rules about who is "really" a Republican or a conservative. Things just don't work that way.

Much harder to actually think for yourself ;-)

Not yet.

Who do you think we should attack?

Do you seriously look forward to a civil war fought with modern weapons on American soil?

"OUST RINOS IN PRIMARIES, NOT GENERAL ELECTIONS"

Exactly what I have been saying for years here. To me it is common sense.
