Are you dancing with Jesus? Or someone else?

Are you dancing with Jesus? Or someone else?

I just got this amazing video emailed to me from Brandi, a listener to the Afternoon Show. It’s a skit that was done at Winterfest this year set to “Everything” by the band Lifehouse. It brought me to tears and reminded me how careful I need to be every single day to cling to Jesus. We have so many “distractions” that can come against us, tempt us, and tear us away from God. And they will tear our life apart. But, if we spend our days right next to God, including Him in our daily activities, letting Him lead us, we will be protected...

I received this article and video link from my sister. It is truly worth the time to view it, as it is a reminder to us of what a Great and Awesome God we serve.

fits perfectly with today's Mass readings...

Luke 13: 22 - 30

22 He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

23 And some one said to him, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?" And he said to them,

24 "Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

25 When once the householder has risen up and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, `Lord, open to us.' He will answer you, `I do not know where you come from.'

26 Then you will begin to say, `We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.'

27 But he will say, `I tell you, I do not know where you come from; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity!'

28 There you will weep and gnash your teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out.

29 And men will come from east and west, and from north and south, and sit at table in the kingdom of God.

30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."

works well with this, too...

Thanksgiving Prayer after Mass

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

I thank you, holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God, who deigned to feast me, sinful and unworthy servant, with the precious body and blood of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, not for any merit of mine, but only because of your merciful goodness. And I pray that this Holy Communion, far from condemning me to punishment, may bring about my pardon and salvation, encompassing me with the armor of faith and the shield of a good will. By it let my vices be done away, all lustful desires extinguished. May it advance me in charity, patience, humility, obedience, and every other virtue. Let it be strong defense against the wiles of all my enemies, visible and invisible, allaying for me every disturbance of flesh and spirit, binding me firmly to you, the one true God, and bringing my last hour to a happy close. I pray, too, that it may be your pleasure to call my sinful self one day to that banquet, wonderful past all telling, where you, with your Son and the Holy Spirit, feast your saints with the vision of yourself, who are true light, the fulfillment of all desires, the joy that knows no ending, gladness unalloyed, and perfect bliss: through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

set to “Everything” by the band Lifehouse.

The title of this article brought to mind a Rolling Stones' song from their 1973 album Goat's Head Soup.

One night I was dancin' with a lady in black
Wearin' black silk gloves and a black silk hat
She looked at me longin' with black velvet eyes
She gazed at me strange all cunning and wise
Then I saw the flesh just fall off her bones
The eyes in her skull was burning like coals
Lord, have mercy, fire and brimstone
I was dancin' with Mrs. D.

Lord, I was dancin', dancin', dancin' so free
Dancin', dancin', dancin' so free
Dancin', Lord, keep your hand off me
Dancin' with Mr. D..

....hidin' in a corner, of New York City.
...lookin' down a .44 in West Virginy.

....severe problems I'm having with my teenage. daughter.
Jude 1: 20-25

[24] To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy -- [25] to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

By grace (unmerited favor, not based on our doings).
God is able keep his and our children.
Have a peaceful day and night.

Our Father never sleeps.
A gentle reminder from a fellow parent of a teen.

It’s great to see how so many younger Christians try to get the message across using their means. I learn a lot from them about our faith. Thanks for posting.

yes, well.

You're invited to peruse the lyrics to Mick Jagger's solo album, Goddess in the Doorway.

Just to round things out, that is.

"God Gave My Everything"

You can see it in a clear blue sky
You can see it in a woman's eyes
You can hear it in your baby's cries
You can hear it in your lover's sighs
You can touch it in a grain of sand
Yeah hold it right there
In the palm of your hand
Feel it 'round you everyday
And hear what I've got to say

God gave me everything I want
Come on
I'll give it all to you
God gave me everything I want
Come on
I'll give it all to you

I saw it in the midnight sun
And I feel it in the race I won
And I hear it in the windy storm
And I feel it in the icy dawn
And I smell it the wine I taste
And I see it in my father's face
And I hear it in a symphony
And I feel it in the love
You show for me

Yeah
God gave me everything I want
Oh come on
I'll give it all to you
God gave me everything I want
Come on
I'll give it all to you

God gave me everything I want
I can't stop can't stop
I'm still looking now
God gave me everything I want
Oh come on
I'll give it all to you

Crazy you said
It's all in your head

[Chorus] written, I believe, with Lenny Kravitz.

You have no idea of the severe problems I'm having with my teenage daughter right now...

Not real sure how severe the problems are, but having raised two daughters though their teen years, one especially strong willed, I can tell you a couple of things.

Love her unconditionally and never give up your principles on the standards no matter how difficult she makes your life. Once you do, you have lost the battle

I have personally thrown out physically two teenage boys from my house who simply did not abide by MY rules. When I would meet a boyfriend, I would always tell her to aim higher. You deserve better.

Once drove 90 miles one way to drag her out of a house she did not belong in. She didn't speak to me for two weeks, but she knew I was not going to let her screw up her life, if I had anything to do with it.

To make a long story short, she is now happily married and the mother of my two grand children.

God is good! Never stop praying for your daughter, and for her salvation.

I prayed for my daughter for 54 years, rarely ever seeing her because she lived in another state. She became desperately ill and was in hospital for over ten months, nearly having died twice. We had churches all over praying for her, and she has experienced salvation, is in full recovery, and has become a completely new person!

So as I said before, God is good! Never stop praying for your daughter.

I believe it was Einstein that described our existence as "A stubbornly persistent illusion." God has designed it for our benefit, and so we end up asking the question, why, for what purpose do we go through these trials? We go through this life with our limited understanding, and ineffective power to effect change in the world let alone others.

Why didn't God make us powerful enough to overcome the World? Well, it would then be more of a virtual hell than it is now. Take heed, that God does not sleep, and His presence is known when we allow Him to come into our lives.

The shuttle astronauts receive hours upon hours of simulator training before they ever get toparticipate in a real Shuttle Mission, and likewise, this world is but a simulation of the real world to come, and with it great power and authority, as we will be called Children of God.

How we live this life, trusting in God without becoming angry, anxious, bitter, envious, or filled with depsair, is part of the preparation.

Keep praying for your daughter, and never give up on her, just as your Heavenly Father has not given up on you, be reminded that He is faithful to keep His many wonderful promises that He has made to you.
