Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney Promises to Legalize Abortion (article title)

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who is running for the Republican presidential nomination, on Tuesday in an interview with Nevada television station KLAS said that if elected president he would allow individual states to keep abortion legal, the Washington Post reports.

Romney earlier this month in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos said he supports a constitutional amendment that would ban abortion nationwide. According to the Post, the "two very different statements" reflect a "challenge" for Romney as he attempts to be a "champion of the antiabortion movement".

In an interview with the Associated Press Tuesday, Romney said that giving states control to "fashion their own laws with regard to abortion" should be the "next step" in the abortion debate. Top Romney advisers on Tuesday said the governor supports a two-tiered process in which states first would obtain authority to regulate abortion after Roe v. Wade -- the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case that effectively barred state abortion bans -- is overturned. The second step would be a constitutional amendment that bans most abortions nationwide.

James Bopp -- an attorney who has represented antiabortion groups and a top Romney adviser on abortion -- said, "There's no flip-flopping. There's no contradiction. There's simply step one and step two." Jon Ralston, a columnist for the Las Vegas Sun who interviewed Romney for KLAS, said he believes Romney's "moral positions conflict" with his "states'-rights opinions," adding, "I don't see how you can be antiabortion, be in favor of a constitutional amendment and be in favor of states' rights". You have been very insistent that FReepers answer YOUR query in just the very specific way that you expect. Why is it that you haven’t bothered to answer at all, my query to you in post #326?
I see the three degrees of glory as no more then different subdivisions for the many mansions.

At the LAST SUPPER, Jesus taught about some of the divisions in our Father’s house. He even speaks of getting one of the places in our Father’s house ready for the disciples at the table. Then he reasserted that there are many different places in our Father’s house

My query:

Care to show me the words of Jesus here(OR any place else besides the words of the LDS) that state that the ONLY way to reach the Celestial kingdom and reside with HIM is to be baptized LDS and obey the LDS requirements to receive their temple rituals? Where does he state that one of the mansions is exclusive to mormons?

Had to go do other things, so I turned my computer off.
Then when I came back, I read some of the long “evidences” put forth to support you and yours. This takes time.

First off you need to be corrected in the teachings of the Church. You said,”ONLY way to reach the Celestial kingdom and reside with HIM is to be baptized LDS”. Anyone in Heaven, in any of the three degrees of glory, resides with God the father and His Son, Jesus Christ. So since you started with a bad premise, your question is just as useless.
You asked a bad question, based on bad facts.

Please restate your question using correct information.

Once Roe v Wade is overturned, the issue goes back to the individual states. Other than nominating strict constructionist judges to the USSC, a President Romney would have no say over wether a state outlawed or kept the right to murder your unborn child. He would have no say over exceptions to those laws either.

Fp, there will be no “first hand” knowledge of an incident that took place in the 1830’s of 40’s. Ever testimony you read will be second hand - -everyone from that era has died.

Just use your common sense. Pray, all the while searching for truth.

Remember - God is Truth. If you find someone hiding the truth, then they cannot be of God. God does not abide a lie. Think about it.

The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are one God. We don’t take that to mean they are one being or of one substance, but we do hold them as being one God, so directly worshiping the Father (in Christ’s name) or Christ himself is worshiping the same God. It is not our custom to direct worship at the Holy Ghost, but I don’t see it forbidden anywhere, nor do I see any example of it being done anywhere in scripture so it doesn’t seem to have been their custom either.

There is a difference between believing there are many gods who can validly be worshiped (polytheism), and believing there are many gods but only one God who can legitimately be worshiped (henotheism).

I do not see the sense in attacking another person’s faith because it is different that yours. After all, it is called “faith” for a reason. None of us can prove what we believe is true and we will only find the true answer when we go to meet our God.

And so there are. Within each kingdom there are gradations and an individual may progress from a lesser glory to a greater glory within the bounds of their kingdom. They may not however progress from a lower to a higher kingdom.

who “gets a planet” and becomes a god, that He will receive
worship from his spirit children on his world?

In my city there are many countries. Now see....that just doesn’t make sense.

Fproy222d was trying to tell me this verse meant there are three kingdoms. You seem to be trying to spin his interpretation.

What I find humorous is your thinking you can just label things you don’t like as sarcasm and expect to be taken as a serious student of the scriptures. How can you tell, what justifies calling it sarcasm other than the result of having the scriptures wrested to fit your own ideas? Nothing.

Was the psalmist Christ quoted sarcastic too? Was Christ just joking around when he said his Father was greater than he? Was he pulling Stephen’s leg when he appeared standing beside the Father as a separate being?
