Its DOA in the Senate. This is just a Democrat PR stunt.

Let’s see. In the 230 year history of this country the number of times that the popular vote winner hasn’t also won the electoral college is -—— 3. 1876, 1888, and 2000. So, since it has happened exactly once in the last 120 years, we should change the law. Good thinking DiFi.

It’s easy to understand why Feinstein opposes the ballot initiative: some conservative districts could give the GOP nominee some electoral votes. California would cease to be an all-Democrat electoral block.

Also, in 2004, Bush won the popular vote, so her precious Constitutional amendment could backfire given a good Republican presidential campaign.

Maryland, this past year, took it one step further into chaos by disenfranchising its citizens. All of Maryland’s electoral votes will go to whichever candidate receives the most electoral votes by the other states. Maryland voters no longer have the right to vote for the President of the United States. Thank the DimocRATs for this.

If I remember correctly, The People's Dunce-Cap Republik of Maryland's law doesn't actually go into effect until like initiatives are enacted by enough other states to get the affected electoral vote count to (or maybe it's over) 270.

I have a feeling were headed toward another civil war, but the next one will be rural conservatives vs. urban liberals.

And guess which constituency is heavily armed. :-)

Let's make no mistake about what this really is all about.

The Electoral College is a natural containement for vote fraud. California's 55 electoral votes always go to the Democrat, but the 6 million or so votes cast for Democrats in 2000 (7 million in 2004) stay within California. Without the Electoral College, add a few more million to that total, and then completely offset some of the small red states with the fraudulent votes alone.

Then California’s little ballot initiative should rightfully tank. Only the (rotten Democratic) legislature can determine how the electors are chosen.

Sure, support the elimination now, but when the tide changes, "Fingerstien"
will be crying for having the electoral back in a heart beat.

Remember the minority crap by the Dems before 2006?
Nuff said..

I just came across this and it is unreal.

I say go back and allow citizens to vote for Representatives. That's IT. The State Legislatures vote for the Senators. The Senators vote for the President. (Am I close? I was schooled publicly, thanks for any clarification)

The Electoral College can be abolished only by Constitutional Amendment and that requires ratification by three fourths of the States.

What are the chances that the small states are going to voluntarilly surrender the small increase in voting weight that our Founding Fathers gave them over the large States so that they would not be irrelevant in Presidential elections?
